Day 5 Sunday August 11, 2002

I got up early today and started my day off by going to the pool. The water today was pretty cold again.

When I was done at the pool I got ready and went over to the Silverton. They are running a special where if you earn 3,000 points you get a gift certificate from a retailer in the area. This week is Wal-Mart. I was going to meet my friend Anne over there at about 1pm. I got there early and played some craps. This seems to be my new game for entertainment other than VP. Things were choppy here until a few shooters took control and made a few points. One shooter established a point of 4 3 times in a row and followed up by making it each time. This really helped the bankroll out quite a bit. My favorite shooter here was a guy that was betting the don’t even when he was shooting. This didn’t work out too well for him since he made his point 3 times too. I finished out this session up almost $200. By now Anne was here and we went to play VP. Since I was up I thought I’d try the dollar machines. I went to the same machine that I hit a royal on about a year and a half ago. I got quite a bit of play but eventually the machine won the battle and took my $100. I had the LVA coupon book with a coupon good for a 50 coin bonus for hitting any 4-of-a-kind. Unfortunately neither one of us hit one the whole time we were playing. I guess I’ll just have to try next week when the gift card will be for Belz Factory Outlet. By now I had enough points to cash in on the $20 gift card from Wal-Mart. The good thing is they don’t even deduct the points from your account.

After we were done playing we went over to the Fireside Café to eat. While we were looking at the menus 3 different people came over to take our order. This seemed kind of strange to me. Usually I can’t get one person to take care of me and today 3 were trying to. This place really needs to get their act together. We ordered a Silverton Sampler and I ordered the prime rib sandwich. The sampler had fried shrimp, poppers, onion rings, rainbow colored nachos and cheese, (what’s the deal with these colored nacho chips I’m seeing everywhere these days?) and chicken wings. My sandwich was good, as it usually is when I order this here. When the waitress brought the check I looked it over as always and noticed she charged us for 2 iced teas. This stood out because we didn’t order any beverages, we both had just water. Of course she was no where to be found so I could have her correct it. The meal was comped so I didn’t worry about it but it was reflected in her tip.

After we were done eating Anne wanted to play blackjack. I wasn’t feeling lucky at that game so I stood one the sidelines. This seemed like a good move on my part because the dealer was on fire pulling 20’s and 21’s one after another. It was time for us to quit playing here for the day. I had to go over to the Orleans for a meet that was organized on the Las Vegas Talk Discussion board. There was a pretty good turn out for this meet and there were quite a few people here. The meet lasted for quite a long time compared to most meets and when it finally broke up I headed over to the craps tables. I got ahead a little bit but then lost everything I was up. I walked away with what I thought was what I started with but when I got to the cage I was actually up a whopping $4. Hey, don’t knock it, it’s better than losing $4!

I went back to the Frontier after this and played a little video poker. When you stay on a room offer here you have to average 300 points per day to maintain your status and I was about 80 points short of having this average. I found one of those bonus ACES machines and played for about 45 minutes. I lost $20 here but got the points I needed so I’ll be comped here next trip if I choose to be. It was pretty late now so I called it a day and went back up to the room.

Total win/loss for the day $150
Total comps for the day $115
