Day 6
Thursday August 11, 2005

Dining:
Today for breakfast me and Mike went to the buffet here at Harrah*s. Mike had a 2 for 1 coupon from the ACG and used comp dollars to cover the difference. Thanks Mike. I used my diamond card to cut the line but there wasn’t a line, so all it got us was seats in the diamond member section. This was a brunch set up and they had everything from breakfast foods up to all the dinner and lunch items you’d expect. Check out Mike’s report for his food ratings on this average buffet.

For lunch I hit the diamond lounge here at Harrah*s. They offered finger sandwiches and sandwich wraps today as well as vegetables and chips.

I had a late dinner at the Edgewater deli consisting of beef barley soup topped off with ice cream at the Baskin Robbins at Harrah*s. Can you believe it wasn’t comped? I did have a $1 off coupon for the ice cream though.

Hotel:
After breakfast I got my room reassigned since the noise in the old room was unbearable. I was moved right down the hall to suite 32022. This was a corner suite with a view of the river in 2 directions. The rest of the room was a little different as far as the layout was but prety similar, with exception of the bathroom. Unlike the previous one, this bathroom was all in one room. There was not a separate shower but this tub was equipped with jets.

Entertainment:
I’m not sure if this is entertainment but after Mike left (he’s going to Vegas today) I hit the pool area. There are 2 pool areas here and they are both nothing more than holes in the ground. One pool is adult only though so it eliminates the little kids from screaming and yelling. After about an hour at the pool I got ready and headed out to the casinos!

Gaming:
I decided to take a hit and run approach today to try to make a few bucks but limit my losses if I wasn’t winning. First off was the Riverside. I played some single deck blackjack here with a real 3-2 payoff on naturals, not that 6-5 bullshit that seems to be spreading everywhere. The table was up and down and I could not catch a win on a double down hand. I squeaked out of there with a $50 win.

Next up was the Flamingo. I started of with some 9/6 jacks or better. This machine was so slow I thought I was going to fall a sleep. I hit one quad, and of course it was aces with an effing kicker. Oh well, what are you going to do? I cashed out here after just about ½ an hour with a $25 win. Not because I was losing or anything but the machine was just too slow. Next up I popped $1 into a penny slot and hit the bonus round on my 3rd spin. I hit that for 1000 coins and cashed out the session with a $9 win.

From the Flamingo I went over to the Edgewater. I wanted to play some blackjack but all they had was single deck games paying that bullshit 6-5 on blackjacks and a bunch of shoe games that were all packed. Instead I went to play FPDW. I didn’t hit deuces or even a wild royal but did get to play quite a while on $60 before losing it all.

On to the Colorado Belle the table conditions were the same as the Edgewater so I played some 8/5 bonus. This machine was very streaky and quite frequently I would go 7-8 hands in a row without a winning hand. I only hit one quad but a good number of full houses kept me in the game. After about an hour I was lucky to get way even.

I played an assortment of penny slots over the next hour or so doing petty well cashing out a small win. These are usually losers for me and I expect to lose playing them so if I catch a few bonus rounds and cash out ahead it’s a real bonus.

It was getting late now so I decided to pack it in and quit for the day showing my first loss for the trip.

Total win/loss for the day: -$100
Total comps for the day: $65
