Day 8
Saturday August 13, 2005

Gaming/Meets:
I met up with Mike early on and we went up to Rampart to get in and hit and run on the VISA card promotion. First off we played $10 match plays on the craps table. Mike shot from the don’t and 7’d out on his first roll. He won $20, I lost $10. From here we went over to the triple plays in order to run the required coin in through quickly. I got to my 400 points after dropping $90 on a pretty cold machine. I only hit 1 quad the whole session. I went to the slot club booth to be greeted by a sign that said because of the slot tournament this weekend the VISA gift card promotion was postponed until next weekend. I quick went and told Mike to stop playing and we were both pretty pissed off. When we questioned the slot club personnel they told us because of the slot tournament it would be too busy to issue VISA cards to players because last week the lines were very long. Mind you there was NO ONE in this place. We spoke to a supervisor to place a complaint and tell him we drove out there all of the way from Henderson to play there. All he said is there were signs all over the casino stating the promo was postponed (there were NOT any signs other than the 2 on the slot club counter) Then he capped that off with the classic cop out line of “Management reserves all rights”. This guy was a real dick and I’ll be contacting Rampart’s management about this situation. I can understand canceling a promotion if the casino was getting killed on it or they ran out of cards, but to postpone it because it’s “too busy” is just plain old bullshit and not good business practice. I’ll think twice before I go all of the way out to effing Summerlin to play there on a promo again.

After this mess we went over to the Cannery and met up with Rich and Dawn. Again we hit the triple plays in order to get to our coin in and collect on the VISA gift cards. We did check prior to playing here to verify they were doing the promotion. I was getting my ass handed to me on this machine and was in $400. I actually switched to short pay DDB 5-play and pulled 4 aces (no kicker) to pull me out of a deep hole. I finished this session down $200 and had enough points for the VISA cards and $40 cash. Next stop was back up to Fiesta Henderson.

Today is Yahtzee’s Annual Crapsfest at Fiesta Henderson. Crapsfest is nothing more than a standard meet but at a craps table instead of a lounge. Playing is not required but it’s a fun time to hang with everyone while tossing the dice. We were supposed to start at 3pm but a few of us started early. This table wasn’t nearly as bad as last year’s but it wasn’t pretty. Very few points were hit and very few rolls lasted longer than a few minutes. It was another disappointment as far as playing goes. I ended up dumping $600 during this massacre.

After dinner we all hit the VP machines. I played FPDW and had a good run going for about 2 hours and cashing out even. I didn’t hit deuces but had enough quints and dirty royals to keep going.

Dining:
Lunch today for me and Mike was a quick stop at Jack in the Box for some tacos. We didn’t want to eat a big lunch since we had planned a dinner after Crapsfest and didn’t want to be stuffed.

After getting killed on craps 7 of us went to the Baja Beach Café for dinner. I tried the chicken fried steak dinner for a change of pace. This came with soup, corn, and mashed potatoes. It was pretty tasty and quite a large portion.

Total win/loss for the day: -$850
Total comps for the day: $180
