Day 13 Monday August 19, 2002

I got up early today at around 9am because I went to bed so early last night. I started packing up some of my stuff for today’s move. I won’t be going to the pool today because I got a little too much sun yesterday and need a break from it.

After I packed I spoke to a slot floor person and had them look at my play and have them cover my 2 small food charges. She seemed shocked I only had $15 worth of food charged to the room and said she took care of it.

After checking out it was time to head up to Henderson and to Sunset Station where I will be ending this trip. I used to play here all of the time but haven’t had much action here in the last few years. Then out of the blue I got an offer from them good for 3 nights and $50 in extra play cash. This was an offer I couldn’t refuse.

My first stop when I got up there was Wal-Mart for a few needed items and then it was over to the hotel to check in. It was very windy up here in Henderson today.

Check in went quick and I was given room 1819. It’s a little tough going from that huge suite at the Suncoast to a standard room. The rooms here are decent but nothing special. This room has 2 queen beds, nightstand, table and chairs and a dresser. The bathroom is split into 2 rooms. One with the sink and a long counter. The other room has the bathtub and toilet. I have a view of the pool and the south end of the strip. I can also see Green Valley Ranch off in the distance too.

One thing that does puzzle me about this place is the way it’s designed. The parking garage is totally on the opposite end of the property from the hotel. Then the hotel is about ¼ mile walk away from the casino. It makes no sense to me why the elevators are at the far end of the hotel tower and then when you get to your floor you have to back track to the room. About the only thing that does make sense is the pool entrance is right next to the elevators.

After I got my stuff unpacked and situated for the last time I too it easy for a while and then headed down to the strip. Oddly there was no wind at all down here. I still had a comp for dinner at the New Frontier Coffee Shop the Orchard Café. This actually came with my room when I stayed there last week. The voucher was good for 2 entrees and 2 beverages. Since I was alone the waiter offered an appetizer in place of the second entrée or something else I could take with me. I got chicken fingers and the 10oz. Rib eye. The rib eye comes blackened with Cajun spices. It also comes with soup or salad and potato. The steak was very good and had some kick to it.

After dinner I went back up to Sunset Station. It was still really windy up here. It was so windy that when I opened the car door the wind grabbed it and flung it open. Luckily I was able to grab it before it slammed into the car next to me.

When I got back I played FPDW and used my extra play cash. I got to play for quite a while on the $50 they gave me and my own $20 but lost it in the end. Next up was some craps action. They have $2 and $3 tables with 10X odds here. I got onto the $3 table and things started off pretty good. Then they got shaky after a while. People were shooting and hitting quite a few numbers before they would seven out. The only problem is they weren’t hitting the numbers I had my come bets and odds on. I fought it out for about 2 hours here but eventually this killed me and I lost again. From here I took one more shot at FPDW. I got quite a bit of play here again but once again has been the theme for the last week I lost without hitting the deuces. It was now about 2am so I went up to the room and called it a night.

Total win/loss for the day -$400
Total comps for the day $124
