Day 14 Tuesday August 20, 2002
I slept until almost 11am today. I’m not really sure why I’ve been sleeping so much but I must need the rest. I started the day off at the pool area. They have a pretty nice pool area here. There is a 1-foot deep section that looks like a shoreline and then the rest of the pool is 3-4 feet deep. It’s pretty big and on one end there is a circular section that has a current and it’s actually tough to get out of it. There were a bunch of those foam noodles laying around the area so I grabbed one of those and just floated around the pool for the whole time I was there. The water was actually a little cool when I first got in but once I got used to it I found it refreshing. It was very windy here again today. It was so windy that a few of the smaller chairs were blowing around. I spent about ½ the day here and finally went back up to the room around 3pm to get ready for the day.
After a short break I went down to the casino. I started off with the FPDW machines. This was a great session. I played this session for 4 hours on my initial buy in. Low points of this session included hitting 4 natural queens 3 times in about 25 hands and being dealt 4 aces and a kicker. Even though I never play DDB video poker I still hate to see that combination come up. The high points of the session include hitting 3 wild royals in 6 hands, 4 straight flushes in a row, hitting 4 deuces and cashing out with over 1000 coins on the credit meter. All of those made this a great session and let me come out ahead but there was more. About 15 minutes after I sat down I was dealt a straight with no deuces but the hand had 4 cards to a royal. I dropped the jack of spades and up popped the jack of hearts for my second royal flush of the trip! I left this session up $1400 and went up to the room to take a break for a while.
After this break I went down to Sunset Café to get something to eat. I was starving at this point since I hadn’t eaten much at al today. I was seated right away but then I sat there unattended for 15 minutes. The waitress knew I was there because she walked right by me 3 times to help the table behind me. Already hungry and a little cranky I was getting pretty pissed off and just as I was going to get up and walk out she came over to take my order. I ordered the 99-cent late night special. It consists of 2 eggs, home fries, toast and bacon or sausage. The food quality was good unlike the service.
After eating I went back over to the casino. I started off with craps. This was the table from hell. No one could make a point. Everyone established a point, threw a number then sevened out. I left the table with a little bit of money left over and tried some blackjack. This was also the table from hell. I lost 4 out of 5 hands and said that’s it. I left the casino after these two events in less than 20 minutes. It was about midnight so I came up to the room and decided I’d quit for the day. Today’s win was a nice boost to the bankroll and even though I’m still down it’s not nearly as bad as it was.
