Day 3
Monday October 16, 2006

I slept in late today and I think I’m finally caught up from all the late nights and flying. After I got motivated I packed up most of my stuff (I’m not actually checking out so will be leaving some items) and got ready to head to the Luxor. Originally I was planning on staying here at Bally’s for the full 5 nights but after booking this room the Luxor sent me an offer. It is for 3 nights in a spa suite, $125 free play, $50 in food, free health club admission, 2 tickets to a spotlight series show, 2 tickets to Burn the Floor, and a $250 Mandalay Place Shopping Coupon Book. This offer and the offer I had on my last stay amaze me because I simply don’t play at Luxor and it appears they have been mining the database and saw my play at Circus-Circus over the years.

After leaving Bally’s I hit Jack in the Box for a quick taco mini lunch to hold me over until dinnertime. You’ve just gotta love lunch for a buck!

When I got to the Luxor I headed over to the VIP check in area and it was closed but One Club check in took care of me. I was quickly checked in and on my way to room 21001 in the pyramid, which is a spa suite.

This room has a king bed, small dining table, make up table, nightstands, an armchair, small coffee table, TV wall unit/dresser/closet combo and in the corner a step up platform with a Jacuzzi. Next to the main bedroom area is a small living room with a couch, chair, end table and small wall unit with another TV. The bathroom is pretty standard with an oversized standing shower and single sink counter. All in all a nice room but it’s a little worn and could use a little renovating. This room also has a view of the airport and Mandalay Bay.

Once I was settled into the room I went to the One Club to activate my free play and then went to the high limit room for some $1 video poker. I started with 8/5 bonus and not only lost the $125 in free play, but also lost another $400 on top of it without hitting a quad. I figured since I hadn’t hit a quad yet I switched over to DDB. This was just as bad as the bonus was and I dropped yet another $600 on this game. Again, without hitting an effing quad. I played for just over an hour so didn’t even get much play for this money. So much for the $800 I won at the Hard Rock last night.

After getting my ass kicked I went to dinner at the Pyramid Café. I had the Chicken Ramen Noodle Soup. I had this last time I was here and it was pretty good. It’s chicken breast, noodles, and vegetables in a broth. It was really good tonight.

After dinner I figured some bankroll preservation was needed since the ass kicking at video poker earlier. That meant a trip back over to the Pinball Hall of Fame. I played here for a few hours on $7. True, I can’t hit a royal flush here but on the same note I can’t lose $1000 in less than 2 hours either!

After leaving the Pinball Hall of Fame I went back to the Hard Rock since it worked for me last night. Things here started out pretty good and I got ahead right away but then went to hell. The table leveled off and I pretty much held steady for quite a while. Then finally the table heated up. I pumped up my bets at the right time and made some good cash, none of it due to my shooting tonight. I had the dice 3 times and only hit one point and the other 2 times went out on my first roll. I colored up after a little over 3 hours with a $1500 win. I thought this was pretty good and really helped offset the VP losses from earlier.

When I left the hard Rock I came back here to the Luxor I was pretty tired but jumped into the Jacuzzi tub anyway. Why? Well just because it’s here. Finally called it quits at about 3am.

Total win/loss for the day $500
Total comps for the day $544
