Day 5
Wednesday October 18, 2006

I slept in again today. Once I finally got up and got motivated today I met Gary for lunch here at the Pyramid Café. I had the turkey club. This sandwich was huge and came with fries.

After lunch I went back down to Bally’s for a meet that was organized on the Las Vegas Talk Discussion board. There was a small turn out with some long time posters from this board. After the meet broke up I hung around with Trawna Jack for a while and we hit the diamond lounge at Paris. Today they offered cheese & crackers, finger sandwiches (not those stupid wraps they usually have) some type of pasta salad and an assortment of pastries. This acted as an early dinner for me.

We left the diamond lounge and I went up to my room to gather the rest of my stuff that I left there when I came over to the Luxor on Monday.

From here I went back over to the Hard Rock for some more craps action and to use a $25 free bet coupon they mailed me. To say this was a dream table would be an understatement. Other than my initial bet I wouldn’t have needed any additional money. Every shooter hit quite a few numbers and even if they didn’t make their points, they hit enough of the other numbers to make it a hot table. I shot pretty well today and on my roll used the free bet coupon that I won with. I was up nearly $3500 and bumped my bets up again when it was my turn to shoot. I cut my own throat and the table turned cold. Each shooter was going out after a roll or 2. I decided to get while the getting was still good and walked away with over $2100 in winnings.

I left the Hard Rock trying to figure out what to do so I could preserve a little bankroll. I was deciding between going back to play Pinball or going up to the Cannery for the 5X points promo. I chose the Cannery where I played 8/5-bonus 5 play and pretty much got my ass handed to me. Dealt winners weren’t happening and quads were sparse. I dropped $300 here in very short time. So far video poker hasn’t been very good to me this trip and I haven’t been getting very much play. I’m just glad craps has been my friend so far this trip! I gave up on the 5 play machines for a while and found an Ace Invaders machine. I thought this game was kind of fun when I played it online but tonight it seemed kind of lame. I thought it was from a lack of aces but I hit 4 aces and it still didn’t seem to be that much fun.

Next I decided to take a shot at some higher stakes, higher volatility games. I sat in at a 5 play, 50-cent DDB machine with a lame 8/5 pay table. I fed in the first $100 and pretty much hit nothing. I decided to try one more $100 before calling it quits for tonight. The last thing I wanted to do was lose most of that nice craps win from earlier. This $100 did a much better job for me. I hit quad queens and that kept me going for a while. Then I was dealt 3 aces. I was really hoping for a nice hand here but ended up with 5 hands of trips. The following hand I was dealt 3 aces again. This time I pulled a 4th one for a $400 win. Now I was actually up $57 on the night. I was going to play it down to $500 on the meter when I hit quad 4’s with a kicker. I played a bit longer and cashed out with a $600 win to make today one hell of a nice day!

I headed back to the Luxor now and had a late dinner. That was the other half of the sandwich I had at lunch. I’m still amazed at how big that sandwich was at lunch. Then it was time to fill up the Jacuzzi one last time, just because I could.

Total win/loss for the day $2650
Total comps for the day $565
