Day 8
Saturday October 21, 2006

I was up early today and got ready for another day of VP. First thing though was to meet Rich and Dawn over at Harrah’s to go to the diamond lounge for a light breakfast. They had a selection of breads and pastries, fruit, cereal, and there were some hot foods prior to me getting there.

When we left the diamond lounge Rich and Dawn played a little bit to cash in on the $1 Million in the Bag promo and then off to the Flamingo to do the same. I didn’t play the promo in these places because I didn’t want to kill my daily average.

I had to run a few errands and came back to Caesars Palace to get my keys and a few other things. While I was here I played a short session of half-dollar triple play. I say shot because I didn’t hit very many winning hands. I did manage to pull a quad but it didn’t help at all. I was able to rack up enough points for the In the Bag promo so got my $5 Macys gift card and a win finder. Of course this thing never blinked.

After running my errands (dropping off laundry, stopping at the store) I hit the Pinball Hall of Fame. This would probably be the last time I’ll be able to come here this trip so I wanted to spend a little more time here. I spent about 2 hours here and then it was back to Caesars Palace. Traffic on Flamingo from Paradise to the Strip was a nightmare but there didn’t seem to be any real reason for it.

Back at Caesars I hit the quarter 5-play machines. This was a good session. I didn’t hit a lot of quads but I was getting quite a few dealt winners including a few full houses and flushes. I got about 2 hours of action here and cashed out ahead by just over $350. I thought this was pretty good considering a lack of quads.

I would have kept playing but I had to get out of here and go down to the Luxor. I had tickets to see the Beach Boys that were comped through my room offer from when I stayed there earlier this week. I got to the Luxor early and had a fast food dinner off the McDonalds Dollar Menu! While I was eating this I realized how much crap I ate this week. This isn’t typical of me when I’m out here. Usually I eat much more at the casinos.

The show started just after 8pm and went for about 90 minutes. They played all of the songs everyone knows. I have to say though that other than a few kids I was probably the youngest person in there at 35 years old! They sounded good but let’s be honest, there are only 2 original Beach Boys left in the group and everyone else is younger than I am.

From the Luxor I went to Henderson to the Fiesta for dinner at the Baja Beach Café. Now you didn’t think I was going to go through this trip and not get an order of Feel Good Soup did you? That was my plan and it was really good tonight. The service was totally unacceptable though. I sat at the counter and was ignored for the first 10 minutes I was there. Finally I was given a menu and my order was taken. Once my food and drink were delivered I was ignored again for the entire meal until the waitress brought the check. I would have stiffed her on her tip but I come here too often to do this here.

On my way out the door I stopped at a full pay deuces machine. This turned out to be a waste of time as I dropped $40 in about 5 minutes. Other than 2 dealt straights I didn’t see a hand better than 3 of a kind and never saw more than 1 deuce in a hand. I quickly got away from that machine and ran to the car!

Once I got back to Caesars I was pretty tired so decided to just hop into the Jacuzzi and then go to bed. I think this was the earliest I’d been to bed for the entire trip.

Total win/loss for the day $200
Total comps for the day $682
