Day 9
Sunday October 22, 2006

Well today is the last day of this rather short trip (short for me anyway). I don’t have much planned for today other than some VP here at Caesars and then some VP at Fiesta Henderson followed by dinner at Fuego for Yahtzee Mike’s birthday.

For breakfast I hit the diamond lounge here at Caesars. Today they offered breads & pastries, cheese, fruit, bacon, eggs, & home fries.

After breakfast I hit the 5-play machines. These things were just sucking away money today. I dropped 2 bills in about 20 minutes and the best dealt hand I had was a 3 of a kind and I wasn’t able to improve them at all. Things got a little better and I was getting dealt straights and flushes. While I was playing Carol in WILV called and Yahtzee Mike and his friend Deb showed up. Mike goes will you come on and hit a quad while I’m here and I get dealt quad 7’s! Shortly after Mike got there the Boston’s showed up for a short visit too. After everyone left I played a little longer getting dealt quad 3’s with a kicker. Oh you have no idea the pain of being dealt quad 3’s with a kicker on jacks or better!! That pain being a difference of about $850!! Despite getting dealt 2 quads I still dropped $295 on these machines in about 2 ½ hours. I did manage to run over 6k through the machines though.

I stopped off at the promotions booth and got my $5 Macys gift card and my win finder. I should just call these thing lose finders because I’ve never had one light up. From here it was over to the Las Vegas Hilton to cash in a $25 coupon they sent me. Then it was off to Henderson to pick up laundry and then to Fiesta Henderson to play some VP before our dinner reservation for 7pm.

I played triple play 8/5-bonus with progressives for each line and another one for the dealt royal. I had $40 in free play to start with. I got a lot of play off of this free play. I hit 8 quads in about 30 minutes and had the meter up over 900 coins. Then things turned and quickly I was down to 800, then 700 and then I was down to 600. Mike and Deb showed up about this time and shortly after Rich and Dawn arrived. We all played and I think we all got our asses kicked except for Mike. Before long all the credits from my free play were gone and I was feeding in bills. The machine just went cold and then the next thing I knew I was feeding in another bill. I finished this session down about another $195. It’s a shame but I think today is going to be my first loss of the trip.

At 7pm we made it to our reservation at Fuego, the steakhouse at Fiesta. I went with my normal order here of the large filet mignon. It also comes with soup or salad and choice of potato (I went with the sweet potato) and vegetable of the day. Today the soup was beer cheese. I like most soup but this stuff was pretty nasty. I only ate half the bowl and forced myself to try to like it.

When dinner was over we all said good-bye and went our own ways. It’s unusual but tomorrow ALL of us were going home. I can tell you I’m NOT looking forward to it. On the way back to Caesars I made one last stop at the Pinball Hall of Fame. I shouldn’t have stopped because I had to pack but I couldn’t resist.

When I got back to Caesars Palace I packed up my stuff for tomorrow’s trip home. It didn’t take long tonight (I’m getting good at this packing up thing after all these years). A check of the funds showed I had a little over $800 that I was still willing to play with so I hit the casino even though I should have hit the bed. I was going to play blackjack at high limits with this little bit of money and went in search of a double deck game. I couldn’t find any. A search of the casino floors showed nothing but shoe games and rip off 6-5 21.

Instead I walked up to a $25 minimum craps table. This isn’t exactly what I wanted but figured if I get on a roll this could be a good night. If I lose, it’s ok since I’m still WAY up for the trip. The table started out choppy. I was hitting a few come bets but no one was hitting their points. A few shooters then went number, number, out and killed me. For the following shooter I only had enough for a pass line bet with odds and one come bet. I was down to $50 left in my hand. This guy hit a few numbers and put me back into the game. The next 2 shooters did equally as well. I was back up to where I started but the table went choppy again. It stayed this way for a while then one of the original hot shooters got hot again. The next thing I knew my green chips were all black chips. Not only did I have my original $800 back, I had the $500 I lost on video poker, and then some. The table stayed hot and I was up over $1000. It was my turn to shoot and as I had done 3 times already tonight, I went out on my first roll. I finally colored up with over $2100 for a $1300 win. Not only did this make me a winner for the session, it made me a winner for the day AND made this the 8th day in a row I was a winner. A PERFECT record this week. I’m impressed.

I finally got back to the room at 3am. I wasn’t happy I was only going to get about 5 hours of sleep but I think it was worth it. I’ll sleep on the plane tomorrow!!

Total win/loss for the day $850
Total comps for the day $630
