Day 2 Sunday December 14, 2003

Gaming:
Today is 5X points at the Cannery so the plan was to play here for a while. I tried out the 8/5-bonus triple play machines. I got quite a bit of play but very few quads and fewer dealt hands. I did manage to pull an inside straight flush though. I ended up dropping $300 on this machine and racked up 18,000 points ($3,600 coin-in). The coupon book from last night had a coupon in it for a free $10 Home Depot Gift Card for earning 2,000 points on Sunday and I was able to have 2 of these. They also offered a $5 gas voucher for 1,000 points and I got one of those. I had to redeem 5,000 points for these and that leaves 15,000 points in my account that can be used for cash back.

After the birthday party at the Frontier me and Anne went to Silverton to play. We started of at a double deck blackjack game. NOTE: The 6/5 virus has now spread to Silverton’s single deck games. I haven’t played much blackjack in the last few years and tonight reminded me why. Of 8 hands I played I lost 5 in a row, then pushed with a 20, won a hand with a 12 and then lost one more. I got up from this table and ran away with a $100 loss.

Next stop was the craps table. This table started out ok. I was playing $3 on the line and taking $20 in odds on my bets. I was quickly back to even after one shooter. I was the next shooter and I sucked rolling 3 numbers and then going out. The table got colder after my roll until about the 4th shooter. I was hitting come bets and I bumped up my base bets to $5 and took the full 10X odds. 4’s and 10’s were the numbers of the night and those were making me some nice money. This shooter took me from being down $500 to being up $400. I stayed for a few more shooters after that and left with a $250 profit.

Anne was still at the blackjack table and was winning so I started adding money to her bets instead of jumping into the game. This worked out and I won a few more dollars here. She cashed out ahead too. Anne’s mother was here by now too.

Next stop was to video poker. I took a shot at some $1 VP in hopes to cash in the POV 50-coin bonus. Anne actually hit a quad first so I gave her a POV and she cashed in for $50, then while she was waiting to be paid I hit a quad and cashed in a coupon too. I didn’t hit anything else and cashed out even when you factor in the coupon play. Anne’s machine was on fire and she hit quad Queens 3 times in about 20 minutes.

While we were playing VP Anne’s mother comes over and says followed her, you won’t believe this. Thinking there was a freak at the bar or she hit a royal I followed her. At the bar was Mark the Waiter from the Hilton Steakhouse. We hung out at the bar for a while and I played some short pay crap video poker. Only 2 quads during the whole session made this one a loser. Luckily it was only quarters though. After all of us getting our asses kicked at the bar me, Anne, and Mark went to get something to eat at the Sundance Grill.

Dining:
Tonight was the birthday party at the New Frontier. The party started at 6pm. I met my friend Anne there and we went to the party. The party was pretty weak and I was by far the youngest person in there. I got a free gift for attending and it was a wallet with the New Frontier logo. It is kind of girlie so I’ll probably give it to someone. The food was average at best and they didn’t offer much on the little mini buffet. They had a few types of salads, a vegetable dish, rice, roasted potatoes, cheese ravioli in white sauce, a fish dish, and prime rib. Most of it was pretty good. They also served birthday cake.

After playing at Silverton for a while we were hungry so Mark, Anne and me went to the Sundance Grill. This is Silverton’s new coffee shop. I had the pulled BBQ pork sandwich with potato chips. This was a great sandwich and I’m told the chips were homemade. I used a $10 food coupon they mailed me and points to cover the rest of the bill.

Total win/loss for the day -$150
Total comps for the day $264
