Day 4
Tuesday December 18, 2007

Today’s plan was to hit the Gold Coast to meet my friend Gary for lunch. Gary wasn’t feeling well today so he cancelled. Instead I took a drive around and took some pictures and ran a few errands.

When I got back downtown I walked over to the Four Queens to play some video poker. There were a few reasons for going over there. The first was to use the ACG coupon for 2X points up to 100. The other was to get some action in over there to hopefully get a dinner comp to Hugo’s later in the week.

When I got there I found out I was deleted out of their system and had to sign up again. This worked out because I was treated as a new guest and got a deck of cards and if I earned 40 points I’d get a t-shirt.

I played on the 50-play machines they have and played at the quarter level but only for 10 lines so it was like a 10-play machine. I was doing ok but again a lack of quads was an issue. I got quite a bit of coin in on my first $100 but subsequent bills didn’t last so long. Keeping with the theme I hit few quads and lost $500.

Next up was single deck blackjack, with a full 3- pay out. This was a $10 game and I played 2 hands at $25 each. I was playing heads up and it was a slow battle but I was making some ground. I was ahead a few hundred but it could have been much better. The problem was not hitting my doubles. It seemed as if every time I needed a 10 I got a 3-4 and when I doubled a soft total and needed a 3-4 I got a 10. A few people joined me at this table and things got choppy and bad before leveling off and getting good again. I got about 3 hours of action in on this table and finished the session up over $600 thanks to getting about 15 blackjacks.

Next up I went back to the 50-play machines again for more video poker. I was doing well from the start and got ahead from some dealt winners. I decided to bump up the hands to 15 then realized that if I were to be dealt aces I’d get stuck with a W-2G so I dropped down to 11 hands. I was still getting a fair amount of dealt winners and pulled a few quads. Then a few minutes after I dropped down to 11 hands, it actually happened. Yes, I was dealt four aces. Not only was this great timing, it put me ahead for the trip or the first time since I got here. I continued to play a little longer and cashed out when the meter was at $1500 for a nice $1400 win and $1000 day at the Four Queens!

After I cashed out I stopped back over to the slot club to use my 100 points coupon and get my t-shirt. I asked for a host to inquire about getting a comp to Hugo’s. He said he’d like to see a little more action for a full comp but would be able to do a partial comp if I didn’t get more action in. From here I went over to Hugo’s to make a reservation for Saturday night. This will be my birthday celebration dinner with NNylons. I’m thinking she’s not going to be thrilled with the fact it’s comped because I know she wanted to make this nice for me. I just can’t bear to see her pay that kind of money for food though, especially when I can get it comped!

When I got back to Main Street Station I took a break for about 2 hours up in the room and get some energy back. Then it was time to head to dinner at the Market Street Café over at the California. Tonight I tried the prime rib special that’s been in the Las Vegas Advisor Top 10 many times. It also comes with soup or salad. I chose the Chicken Florentine. The service was weak tonight and I spent more time waiting to be taken care of then it took to eat. The meal was ok, nothing special as far a prime rib goes. I think what puts this special above the rest is that it comes with cherries jubilee for dessert.

After diner I hit the 8/5 bonus five plays again. For a change I was hitting a fair amount of quads and twice I held trips and pulled a quad on 2 lines. I wasn’t getting very many dealt winners though but managed to cash out with a $50 win. I also had 7 scratch cards for $15. They were all $2 except for one that was $3.

When I was done playing tonight I cashed out my points for $215. I can’t recall the last time I actually cashed them out but I think it was over a year ago according to my records.

Total win/loss for the day $1750
Total comps for the day $279
