Day 6
Tuesday December 19, 2006

I was up pretty early this morning, pulled back the curtains and what do I see? Snow! WTF is up with the weather out here? It actually only going to be like 40 degrees as a high today but back home in NY it’s going to be near 60. This is pretty effed up.

I had plans to meet my friend Gary here at GVR at 10am at the Grand Café. We hung out for a while and had a late breakfast/early lunch. I had the bacon & eggs skillet which is nothing more than bacon and eggs on a skillet instead of a plate.

When we were done eating breakfast we played a variety of penny slots. I hit a few bonus rounds but didn’t do very well. Nothing pisses me off more than when I hit a bonus round and still lose for the spin. We played for about a half an hour and Gary had to leave. I also had to leave to head down to the strip.

While today isn’t actually a moving day I do need to go check in at Circus – Circus. I originally booked this as a double booking to overlap my Caesars reservation but now I do need the room starting tomorrow since I cancelled that. I know most people hate this place but they don’t usually have a reason other than “what they heard” or that it’s not a higher end property like Caesars or Paris. It suits me just fine especially when you factor in the offers I get from this place. This offer is good for up to 5 free nights (I’m booked for 3 using 2), plus $400 in free play. Hate them or not, you just can’t pass up free play in this amount. When I made the reservation they offered me a suite so I took that. I’ve never had a suite here before but I’m not expecting much and not even expecting it to be as good as a regular room at Caesars where I was supposed to stay this week.

When I got there I checked in at the VIP Lounge and everything was set for me already. I was given room 1544 in the main tower. This was a suite and it’s the first time I was ever given a suite here. Not only was I given a suite but I am also RFB for the next few days.

The suite is separated into two rooms. The living room has a wet bar area on the right when you walk in. The living room itself has a few chairs and a couch, coffee table and a TV in an armoire and an additional dresser. The bedroom has a king bed, make up table, TV/dresser combo and some plants. The bathroom is lacking and is a standard small Circus – Circus bathroom. It was a decent suite but nothing exciting. I’ve actually been in standard rooms that are better than this suite.

After checking in I went over to Terrible’s to play some video poker and to get in on their gas promo and to burn a match play. The first thing I had to do was get their new card. The lines at this slot club really suck. The place is too small for the volume they do. After I got my new card and my old points transferred over I went in search of something to play. I found a bank of machines that had 8/5 bonus at the $1 level but was short at all other denominations. I figured I’d take a shot and play dollars again to max out this promo. I was actually double dipping. I had a coupon for 5X points that would be added at a later time, and for each 1000 points earned today you can get a $5 gas card and you get to keep the points, up to $15. I just got my ass handed to me today. I got dealt a quad and hit quad deuces but couldn’t connect much else. I got dealt so many low pairs that I couldn’t improve and this really killed me. By the time got my $3000 coin in I dropped $350. This is NOT how promos are supposed to work.

On my way to the slot club to get my cards I played a $10 match play on red on roulette. Black came up and now my $15 in gas cost me $360. After another long wait in line at the slot club I got my voucher for $15 in gas cards and had to take that to the gift shop to redeem.

When I left Terrible’s I had enough time to make it back to GVR to play in today’s tournament session but I decided not to race over here to do it considering my low score from yesterday and the fact that there had already been a number of royals hit I didn’t have a chance. Instead of wasting my time trying I hit the Pinball Hall of Fame for a while and played some games. On the way there I hit Jack in the Box for a quick Taco lunch to hold me over until later tonight for dinner.

When I left the Pinball Hall of Fame I wanted to play craps so I stopped off at Sunset Station. They had a $5 game with 10X odds and I bought in. This table was rough to say the least. I was making come bets with full odds and just about every shooter was rolling 2 numbers and then going out. This was killing me and I had to hit the pocket again. I had a good roll and made 3 points but not much else. The next 2 shooters took it all back from me though. I was eventually down to the bets I had on the board plus $20 in my rack when the shooter hit a point of 4. This started the long and slow come back. Things leveled off and I stayed at the same level for a while. Then some guy that was in the middle of a hot roll decides he’s going to pass the dice. I was like WTF? Dude, keep going, you’re hot. He refused so I got the dice and rolled a 7 on my 2nd roll. Now it was my turn to shoot (taking over in the middle of someone else’s roll doesn’t count so you keep the dice a “second” time”). After my roll I quit and finished up with nearly a $500 win. This was a great come back considering I as down to $20 at one point. It also helped off set the ass kicking I took at Terrible’s earlier.

From Sunset Station I came back to GVR to start packing up my stuff and getting ready for the move tomorrow to the suite at Circus – Circus.

When I was all done with that I went to the Grand Café to grab something to eat. I hadn’t had anything since the Jack in the Box earlier. I tried out the Chicken Pot Pie. It was tasty but had a few too many things in it I don’t really like. It came with soup or salad and a side of fruit.

I finally called it a day at around midnight because I wanted to get up early tomorrow and have enough time to put in a full day of play tomorrow at Circus – Circus.

Total win/loss for the day $100
Total comps for the day $191
