Day 6
Thursday December 20, 2007

Today NNylons arrives from Ottawa. Her flight arrives in terminal B and is scheduled to arrive at 12:43pm. After a few quick stops I headed over to the airport to pick her up. I was pretty excited for her to arrive since we hadn’t seen each other since August. It’s one of the drawbacks to being in a long distance relationship. Her flight [was an hour late and I met her at the baggage claim area. Her stuff showed up quickly and we were on our way to the car headed for lunch.

The plan was to hit Fiesta Henderson so NNylons could experience the Feel Good Soup she’d heard about so many times. We hit the Baja Café and as promised I ordered the Feel Good Soup. This is still my favorite soup of its kind and although I’ve tried others that are similar, none compare. At times it lacks in flavor but today it didn’t and I was with it. NNylons really liked it too. We also split an order of pork fried rice. This was tasty but they give you so much it’s enough for 4 people. One other thing to note is the prices have once again gone up and the Feel Good Soup is up to $7.99 a bowl. It seems like not so long ago I was paying only $4.99 for this stuff!

After lunch we headed out to the Hard Rock so NNylons could get settled into the room. I took the scenic route going past a bunch of the locals places because although she’s been to Vegas many times, she hasn’t seen much of the off strip properties and I thought this would be a good opportunity to at least see what they look like from outside. One of the plans this trip is to give her a full tour of some of my favorite local’s places.

After the mini tour we landed at the Hard Rock and got up to the room. We hung out for a while and I gave her an early Christmas gift. It was a digital camera and unfortunately the effing thing was broken. She wanted to unpack and feel at home so while she did that I headed out to run a few errands. The first stop was to check in over at Caesars Palace. The reason for this stay is two-fold. First, the offer was for 2 nights and $200 in cash. The second was a surprise for NNylons because we first met at Caesars 4 years ago. Yes, this is me being Mr. Romance at his best.

When I got to Caesars and was making the 400 mile trek to check in who did I run into but Dawn. Go figure, there’s a million people town and 1000 places to go and you run into people you know.

I finally made it to the diamond check in area and it was dead. Since I was the only one in there I was quickly on my way to room 4060 in the Augustus Tower. This is a standard room in this tower with a king bed, night stands, fancy CD player alarm clock, wall unit with over priced mini bar, work desk, sofa, coffee table and dining table. The bathroom is large with a standing shower stall, over sized jetted tub, dual sink vanity, and the toilet in its own little room.

The view was worth a million dollars and had a full view of the Bellagio fountains, Bally’s, Paris, Planet Hollywood and the rest of the south strip. I dropped off a few items in the room and then left on my way back to Circuit City to exchange the broken camera. Hey gave me no problems and it only took a few minutes.

By now the weather was starting to change and it was getting extremely windy. I haven’t seen it this windy in quite a while and I was glad to be getting back to the Hard Rock because people out here don’t know how to drive in bad weather.

When I got back we hung out in the room for a while and then hit the casino. In the casino NNylons played some slots and I hit the craps table and it was pretty bad. The theme was number, number out for a good part of the night. Then when we’d get a good shooter all the gains would go away. I’m not sure how I managed to stay at this table for over 4 hours but in the end got my ass handed to me to the tune of about $2800.

It was getting late and I didn’t see NNylons in the casino so I headed up to the room and we crashed. She had a really long day between the flights layovers and time change.

Total win/loss for the day -$2800
Total comps for the day $409
