Day 2
Saturday December 20, 2008

Today Dee got up VERY early. I guess she was still on east coast time. We hit the café for some breakfast. I had the All American Breakfast. It’s 3 eggs, 3 bacon, 2 sausage patties, hash browns & toast all for about 8 bucks. On the Strip this meal would cost close to 20! The service was good this morning and the food was pretty good too. One thing to note is they serve Starbucks Coffee in the Sundance Grill.

After breakfast we played in the casino a bit. We started off with some penny slots and then I switched to 10-play video poker. I couldn’t get any dealt hands and quads were not hitting I lost about $250 in here.

When we were done playing there was a sale in the small events center outback. They had lots of gift items starting at $1. It was actually a giant assortment of the crap they’ve given away for the last year from logo items to holiday items to cheap made in China crap. We thought we’d check this out though and see if they anything decent. I couldn’t believe how packed this place was and how people were fighting over this junk.

When we ran away from this place e came back to the room. Dee had to wrap Christmas presents so I left to go shopping. I was getting her some tickets to see the Wranglers Hockey game at the Orleans Arena. I told her I had to get her a few stocking stuffer items. I made a quick trip over to the Orleans to get 2 tickets at the box office. I got tickets for tonight’s game against Utah in section 106 row AA right on the glass. I used points to cover the $76 cost (Dee doesn’t mind if it’s a comped gift – that’s why she’s cool!). When I left the Orleans I had to make it look like I was shopping so I went over to Target and picked up a few quick items to cover my tracks and came back to Silverton to wrap my gifts. Also when I got back I told her while I was out I spoke to Anne and we were meeting her and Steve at 7ish at the Orleans (Anne really did call).

There weren’t really any good promos today and the only plan was to go to Circus – Circus. The plan here was multifold. One was for Dee to see the Adventure Dome. Although she’d been to Circus – Circus many times over the years she never got to see this place so we would be checking it out. The next was to grab some fun books with the coupon in the American Casino Guide (ACG) which reportedly has a bet $10 win $15 coupon for blackjack and a $5 match play for a field bet on craps. Unfortunately they didn’t have fun books anymore and one of the people told us it’s been 2 months since they got them. One more reason to be here was to check in for a 2 night stay. Even though we wouldn’t need the room they e-mailed me an offer good for free nights and $100 in free play.

I checked in at the VIP room like I always do and every thing was in order. In just seconds we were on our way to look over room 30810 in the West Tower tower. This place has a bad reputation and gets blasted quite a bit. The worst thing about it is the people that blast it have never been to or stayed here and many of the things I’ve read that blast the place are totally made up. This room was excellent and recently remodeled with a king bed, night stands, work desk, dresser 32” flat screen TV and they’ve installed real safes instead of having those lame assed coin operated ones.

Once we looked at the room and took a break we hit the Adventure Dome. Dee was freaking at the number of kids running through here but calmed down after a bit. Then the funniest part of all happens. The roller coaster came flying above our heads and scares the living crap out of her. I wish I had that moment on video! The only thing funnier was her reaction when the flume came down the hill and water went spraying everywhere!

Next up was the casino. I had to stop at the player’s club and activate my free play first and then hit the casino. There’s not much good stuff left here to play so I said Eff it and ran it through a penny slot. I only cashed out like $65 but it was free cash. I’m sure I won’t be seeing any more offer from Circus – Circus after this.

While we were in this area we went over to Slots – A – Fun. Here we used some coupons for free playing cards. I also drop off a few free hot dog coupons hoping someone would be able to use them.

We were hungry now and I decided we’d go over to the Gold Coast and stop at their Noodle Exchange restaurant for a quick dinner/late lunch. This was Dee’s first time here. First up was a stop at the tables to use a $5 match play from the ACG. We hit the roulette table this time. Dee played odd and won. The next roll I played black and lost. This put us at 3 for 4 so far.

The Noodle Exchange has typical Noodle Bar items as well as a Chinese menu. I had a mandarin pork ramen noodle soup. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I was figuring it would be sliced BBQ Chinese Pork but it was actually 2 breaded pork chops in the soup. A little unusual but pretty tasty stuff!

On the way out we played 2 more match plays. This time we played them on the pass line at craps. The shooter set a point of 6. I was feeling pretty good about this one but 3 rolls later he threw a 7. We were now 3 for 6 on coupons.

We left the Gold Coast and went to the Orleans. Dee had never been here either. We had some $25 match plays I traded for so we stopped at the long line at the player’s club. It moved quickly. Dee signed up for a card and got $5 in free play. We went to the roulette wheel to use our match plays. Dee played odd and lost. I played black the next spin and lost. This really hurt losing back to back $25 match plays. We were now 3 for 8 on coupons and actually in the hole.

We had plenty of time before we had to “meet with Anne & Steve” so we played some penny slots. I was simply getting my ass kicked. No bonus rounds were hitting and I wasn’t even getting any hits to keep playing. I eventually made it onto a bonus round on Village People Jackpot Party. I had about $4 left on the meter when I hit this. This was a great bonus round and I was hitting like crazy on this. I finally pooped out after hitting 23,500 coins. Not only did I win everything back I’d lost earlier, I was up for the evening.

It was almost time for the game I found Dee and we started heading towards the arena. I got her all of the way up to the gate. I told her I was sorry. She said for what. I said well Steve and Anne aren’t coming and handed her the envelope with the tickets and said Merry Christmas. Holy crap she was like a little kid full of excitement. Then even more so when she saw our seats right on the ice near the goal. This is a pretty nice arena and if you ever go to a game, get the cheaper seats as there isn’t a bad seat in the house. It was a pretty good game with the Wranglers losing for most of it but they came back and tied it up. The game went into overtime and we got onus hockey and the Wranglers pulled it out after just a minute or so in winning 3-2.

Total win/loss for the day -$150
Total comps for the day $342
