Day 9
Friday December 22, 2006

Well today is another moving day and the final move for the trip. Today’s move is over to the Hard Rock where I’ll be for the next 6 nights. The way this is supposed to work is my host was to apply some comp dollars I had in my account from my action in the summer before they expired. He said they’d cover 4 nights and he’d bring me in at $79 for the last 2 nights and those would be comped based on play. Somehow I think I’m going to get screwed on this deal and although those first 4 nights are covered up front, my action this trip will end up covering them and I’ll get no comps until that point. If that happens I will be pissed and tear him a new asshole because I haven’t exactly been happy with this guy.

I went to the Casino Café for a quick breakfast before checking out. Quick didn’t happen. This was the worst service I’d ever experienced in here and it wasn’t even busy. It took almost 20 minutes just to get my order taken. I had the waffle & OJ today and the food was good.

When I went to check out I saw there were a few charges on the account. These shouldn’t have been here so I had to go to VIP services to get it all fixed. The lady there was trying to tell me they don’t comp things from the deli. I told her sure they do and my room card said they do. They also did comp the first meal I had there and the amounts on my account weren’t anything that I actually charged. She called someone and got it taken care of. It just pisses me off that she’s working in the VIP room and doesn’t know what they do and do not comp.

When I left Circus – Circus I stopped at South Point before going to the Hard Rock to get the gas cards I earned earlier this week. They had gotten them in and I got 9 more on top of the one I got the other day for a total of $250 in gas. These days that’s about 1 tank full!!

When I got to the Hard Rock I went to the VIP room to check in when I arrived. When I checked in I played the birthday game again trying for the upgrade. It worked a little bit. I say a little bit only because they had me in a mountain-view room and they moved me to a pool/strip view for no charge. They did offer to sell me a suite though. I was kind of puzzled as to why my host would even put me in a mountain-view room. I was given room 760 and it’s a standard king bed room here at the Hard Rock identical to all of the rooms here.

I unpacked all my stuff and got settled into the room. It was nice to finally unpack all my crap since I’ll be here for 6 nights. At the last few hotels I just lived out of the suitcase.

When I was all settled in I finally hit the casino for some craps action. I asked for a marker and the floor man came back and denied it. He did there was an issue with my bank info. Turns out my bank was taken over and I have a new account number. Of course the credit department here waits until the day before I arrive to run a bank check. Now I’m screwed with no credit on a holiday weekend. I spoke to a host named Katie who was pretty much no help. Luckily the banks here were still open for another hour and I flew to a branch to get some money. This could have been really bad if I didn’t have a local bank account.

When I got back I finally got onto a game. This table started out pretty good but I got onto the game in the middle of a hot roll and only caught the end of it. Things got choppy from here for a while and I was down about $900. Things smoothed out and I pretty much stayed at this point for a while. A few good shooters got me back up to even and I hovered at +/- $500 for close to an hour. Then it finally happened. The hot shooter came through with a decent roll. I was up over $1000 by now and the table stayed hot. Two of the next 3 shooters rolled for a while and my reds turned into greens and my greens turned into blacks. I didn’t realize how long I had been playing but I saw someone’s watch and it was now midnight. I’d been at this table for close to 7 hours. I was getting tired and I was up so I colored up with over $3000 in winnings. When they colored my up they gave me a $5000 chip that was on the table and when I cashed in at the cage you’d think I was a terrorist or something. I think they called the effing pentagon to get approval to pay off the money. Finally 10 minutes later I was paid and it was time to eat.

I went to Mr. Lucky’s 24/7 and ordered the chicken fried steak. It came with a salad, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Everything was good and I finished up the meal with some ice cream. It was now close to 2am and time for bed.

Total win/loss for the day $3150
Total comps for the day $501
