Day 6
Wednesday December 24, 2008

Today was going to be a busy day. To start off the day we had some errands to run. First was a trip to Bellagio to see the conservatory to see the Christmas display.

Next up was trip to the Laundromat to pick up our clothes which was followed by a stop at Fiesta Henderson to burn a few more match plays and have breakfast. We didn’t play them though because the pit was almost totally closed and the few tables open were full. Instead we went to breakfast. We had the graveyard special at the Baja Beach Café that gives 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 toast and hash browns for $2.49. The food was good and filled the void.

From Fiesta Henderson it was on to Eastside Cannery. Dee had never been here before and we had some match plays to burn. It was still early and few tables were open. We chose the craps table to play them on. Dee took the field and I took the pass line on the come out. The shooter set a point of 8 so Dee lost her match play. The shooter shot the dice about 10 times and then threw a 7 and I lost my coupon. This brought our score to 4 for 15 and down in a small hole so far.

Sam’s Town was the next stop on the coupon run. I scored a coupon for Dee for $10 in free play but it was denied at the booth because it was too old. The supervisor agreed it had no expiration date on it but they hadn’t used those coupons in over a year. Note to Sam’s Town, it’s an effing $10 free play coupon, honor it as good customer service even if it’s outdated, especially since it’s got no expiration date on it. We also had some $20 match plays I traded for from the LVRJ. We went to the roulette wheel here and Dee went first. She deviated from her normal odd bet to even. Wouldn’t you know it, odd 13 came up. I played my standard black and hit it taking us to 5 for 17.

We went to the Longhorn when we left Sam’s. Here we had coupons from the ACG & POV. I’m surprised how friendly this little dump is towards coupons. Here the only option is BJ so we sat down there. On the first hand we both played our ACG coupons and both own. The next hand Dee played her Free Ace from the POV and got a blackjack. I played my POV match play and lost. On the last hand Dee lost her POV coupon and I won my free ace. Our coupon wins are now at 9 for 23 but we are still in the hole.

From Longhorn we made a quick stop at Big Lots to get some survival items and then it was off to Boulder Station. Dee had never been here either and I had a few coupons I scored in a trade. One of those coupons was a 2 for 1 five spot Keno game. We took a shot at that but lost. It was fun though cheering for our numbers. The next coupon I had was a $5 match play. I stuck with black on roulette and lost. I can live with losing the $5 coupons as long as we start winning the $20-$25 ones. This loss took up to 9 for 24. Dee grabbed a coffee at Starbucks using a 10% off coupon and I also had a coupon good for a free gift for earning 100 points. We played a penny slot and I hit a mini progressive on it and squeaked out a small win. When I had enough points I hit the slot club and got a heart shaped candy dish (read: CRAP)!

From Boulder Station it was up to Rancho. Here the first stop was Texas Station. Texas Station is usually busy enough to hit multiple pits but it was slow today so we could only hit one. The coupons here are only good for blackjack so we sat in at a double deck game. Dee got dealt a 14 and I got dealt a 20 against a dealer 7. Dee hit and pulled a 4 and the dealer flipped a 10 for 17 and 2 winners bringing us to 11 for 26 and finally back into the black.

Over across the street we stopped in at Fiesta Rancho with $25 POV coupons. Dee played her odd and I played my black on back to back spins and we hit them both taking us to 13 for 28 and $100 richer.

Further down Rancho we hit Santa Fe Station to use some more $25 POV coupons. Sticking with our guns we hit the roulette wheel again and played our regular odd & black. We both won on these and ran out of there with another $100 added to the kitty and our score now at 15 for 30.

Next up was a drive to Summerlin and a stop at Rampart. The first order of business was to get Dee signed up for a new card. I had traded for a coupon to get $25 in free play for a new sign up. The old bag denied the coupon saying it was from October’s newsletter which, it was but had no expiration on it. I think they should have honored it but Dee doesn’t like to make a fuss so used an ACG coupon for a free hat and deck of cards. She also got a 2009 calendar. Next we used some $25 match plays from the POV. They have become very paranoid about coupons here and now require your card and enter into the computer that you used one so you can only use one per year. So much for the pile of those I traded for. Dee was dealt a 20 and I was dealt a 19 against a dealer 9. The dealer had a 19 so Dee won and I pushed. On the next play I got a 10 against a dealer 3. I doubled but only up to my cash amount not the coupon. I drew a 3 but the dealer broke so I won. We walked out of here with some free gifts and $125 in cash and a coupon record of 17 for 32.

Next up was a stop next door to Suncoast. I had some $20 match plays from the LVRJ I got in a trade. Dee played hers on roulette on odd and lost but I played mine on black and won taking us to 18 for 34. While we were here we stopped at the gift shop to grab a few items. The prices here are pretty good and we got a discount for having a player’s card and I used points to pay the bill.

From here it was off to our friends Anne & Steve’s house. I had to pick up an envelope of coupons my buddy Buddha had left over. He mailed them to her house since there wasn’t time to get them to me between his trip and mine. She also had some Christmas stuff for us.

We got out of Anne’s and headed up to the strip to do a bunch of things. First order of business was to check into Planet Hollywood. While we don’t need the room they sent me an offer for 2 nights in a suite, $250 in free play, $100 in dining, 2 passes to the Spa, and a special birthday gift. Since we hate this place because of its parking it was still a no brainer to double book this to take advantage of the perks. Checking in was quick and in no time we were off to room 2077 to see what they put us in. It was a resort suite and it was renovated and is actually the first room I’ve had here that didn’t still have the old Aladdin theme. It was a king room with nightstands, wall unit, sitting chairs, and a work desk. It also had a helmet from the Movie Top Gun. The bathroom was large with his and hers vanities, large soaking tub, and separate toilet room. It also had a view of the south strip and City Center.

Since we hadn’t eaten all day we hit Planet Dailies for dinner on one of the food coupons. Dee had the baked rigatoni and I had pork chop dinner. We also got a giant slab of chocolate cake to go for my birthday tomorrow. Our server Chris was very good and super friendly.

Next up it was time to hit the casino to use up the $250 in free play. I had to stop at the slot club to activate it. While I was there I also got my birthday gift of a nice robe embroidered with the Planet Hollywood Logo. While I was there the clerk told me I had $75 in my account so I cashed that out and he gave me a fun book with a much appreciated $25 match play in it. I used my free play on $1 8/5 bonus triple play so I could run it through fast and possibly hit something good. I was dealt a full house and pulled a few other decent hands and cashed out $320.

We left Planet Hollywood and went over to Paris to the diamond lounge for a quick little dessert and to use the internet. It was amazing that when we left there was a line for the Paris Buffet that stretched from the Buffet Entrance all of the way to the parking garage. I’m thinking most of these people weren’t even going to get into the place before it closed. I have to question what people are thinking when they stand in a line like that to eat. It’s not like it’s the only place in town to have dinner.

We stopped off at Bill’s to play a $5 match play I scored in a trade and to play some penny slots. I won the $5 match play on black on roulette taking our record to 19 for 35 but got my ass handed to me on slots. Dee did well on her slots though and hit a bonus round for over 6,000 coins. She was pretty effing excited about that.

Next up was a walk over to Imperial Palace to use some match plays. Since most of their game here are 6-5 we didn’t have much choice. Our first play was a table with a Janet Jackson look-a-like. First off she looked nothing like her. Dee won her hand and I pushed on mine and the dealer tried to take my coupon. I disputed and the floor person agreed the coupon plays again. On the next hand I lost. On the way out we hit a table in another pit and De won again and I lost. We’re now 21 for 39 on coupons. We left Imperial Palace and started going back to Planet Hollywood.

On the way back we stopped off at Paris to see if Ned was working and he was. He was dealing a 3 card poker game. To my surprise it was a $5 game. Compared to most places on the strip this place was pretty busy. Ned had a full table so we didn’t stay long and went back to Planet Hollywood. I had the $25 match play to use from the fun book they gave me earlier. I played it on roulette on black and scored again. Things have really been working out on match plays today especially with the $25 ones and we’re now at 22 for 40.

We went up to the room after this to gather our things and came back to the Rio. We finally packed it in for the day at about 12:30am!

Total win/loss for the day $200
Total comps for the day $800
