Day 16 Sunday December 28, 2003
Dining:
I had an offer from Barley’s to have 3,000 points added to my account just for showing up. I decided to take them up on that and use a POV coupon for a free pizza for lunch. I had bacon for my topping. I thought the amount of bacon was weak today compared to the past. While I was waiting in line to order my pizza I heard my name called. I turned around and it was the Bostons! We hung around and ate pizza for a while before going our own ways again.

Since I had been in town over 2 weeks already I still haven’t had my favorite meal at the Fiesta. That of course being the Feel Good Soup at the Baja Beach Café. With time winding down on this trip it was the thing to order. It was as good as it usually is but I did notice the wontons are different than they used to be.

Gaming:
After getting back to the Fiesta from Barley’s and a few other stops I took one last shot with some video poker. All of the slant tops were full so I took a machine back in the sports book area. It was more of the typical session of deuces for me. After about 45 minutes I was down to my last $10 of $100. The quads just weren’t hitting and other than 2 wild royals I hit no big hands. Then with just 6 hours left on this nightmare trip and after about 26,000 hands without them, 4 deuces pop up on my screen for $250. After I ran off the rest of my credits I left this machine and headed upstairs to the deuces machines up there.

I popped in a $50 and in 20 minuets it was gone even though I hit 4 5 of a kinds and a wild royal. The problem was that those seemed to be the only winning hands I hit the whole session. Time is running out on the trip and it was time to eat.

After dinner I took one more shot at deuces wild. It’s not like at this point a royal was going to make a difference or anything but it would be nice to go out on a bang (ok a small bang). I hit the machines upstairs again and before I knew it $60 was gone. I decided to quit at this point and take the remaining $50 from the deuces and finish the day a winner.

Flight:
The return flight is a redeye this trip. I like taking the redeye flight home because it gets me an extra day in town! I’m taking America West flight 219 non-stop back into Newark. The flight left nearly an hour late because the flight attendants for this flight were delayed on an incoming flight. The captain said we would make up the time in the air and the flight would be just over 4 hours long. There was no movie on this flight and of course no food other than 2 little bags of peanuts. I slept through most of the flight home except for when the little kid next to me started kicking the crap out of my leg a few times.

Transportation home from airport:
I had reserved a Luxury car from Avis so I could get back home to Newburgh. I’ll be dropping this car off tomorrow at my local airport. Nothing beats driving a Luxury car. If only they were more affordable while I was in Las Vegas. This car is a bit much for a 1-day rental at $71 but it was only $7 more than a full size so I figured why not. When I got to the counter I was asked for the ID card from the Entertainment book that the discount came from. This was the first time ever I was asked for something like this. I did have my motor club ID and he was going to give me a rate with that discount, at quite a higher price than I had reserved for. I was starting to get pissed off at this point and then he asked where I worked. I told him my company and he said “Oh, we have great rates for them”. I got the car for just $7 more than I had reserved for. Lesson learned. I guess from now on I’ll carry that card with me when I rent from Avis. About 90 minutes later I was back in my driveway like I never left and yet another trip has come and gone.

Total win/loss for the day $50
Total comps for the day $61
