Day 10
Sunday December 28, 2008

Well today is moving day. We slept in until almost 11am and I threw all my crap together and we left the Rio. I love the rooms at the Rio but the rest of the property pretty much sucks.

For lunch we went to Fiesta Henderson to the Baja Beach Café. The plan here was to have Feel Good Soup. Those that read my last report know that Feel Good Soup was removed from the menu while I was herein October. Well an e-mailed survey from me and an e-mail to the food and beverage manager at Fiesta Henderson (along with other complaints I’m sure) got it reinstated. We both ordered it today and it was as tasty as ever. They did jack up the price of it yet another $2 to $11.99 per bowl. I remember not too long ago it was $4.99. This time however, will probably be the last time we ever get to have it again. The waitress confirmed that on March 1 the Baja Beach Café would close and on May 1 an effing Denny’s would open in its place. I’m not happy about this and will contact Stations and let them know.

Now we went to the Las Vegas Hilton where we’d be spending the rest of our trip. Our first order of business was to burn some match plays as I’m armed with a pile of them for here. There was a short wait to check in but the line seemed to move well. I thought we were in line for 10 minutes but Dee told me it was 30. The problem was there was only 1 clerk handling everyone for the most part when we were there. Things sped up when 2 more people came out and opened up their areas. I got a New Year’s Eve offer from them good for 4 nights, tickets to the NYE celebration and a gift. Even though we aren’t staying for NYE I still booked the room in case we were to get bumped off of our flight.

We were given room 1904 in the Central Tower. This is a basic but nice room. It has a king bed with night stands, small table, 2 sitting chairs, a work desk and a dresser with an LCD TV. The bathroom is tiny with no extras and the view is of the pool area and south strip.

Once we got settled into the room we took a much needed nap to catch up from the late night yesterday and then hit the casino. We played a variety of penny slots and I didn’t do very well. Dee seemed to get much more play for her money tonight. To slow down the bleeding I played a 3 coin nickel Pinball Slot and Dee played a 2 coin nickel Top Dollar machine. We also used 2 match plays on roulette and lost both of them taking us to 31 for 57.

After slots I played some 10-play video poker. It was a choppy game. I got only a few good dealt winners. In 10-play dealt winners are way more important than triple or 5 play. I hit a straight flush and some quads as well as getting dealt a few flushes and straight. One hand I was dealt a pair of queens and 4 to a royal in spades. I dumped the odd queen but didn’t hit any royals. I did get a few flushes. I was really hoping to pull one more royal out.

Dee came up to relax and read and I stayed in the casino. I played more video poker and then switched to craps. This table was ok. Every shooter shot a few numbers but none of us could get on a really good roll. I played for about an hour and cashed out with a little over a $200 profit easing some of the earlier losses on the penny games and VP. I quit for the night after this and got to bed around 1am. One thing I forgot to do was play a $10 match play when I played craps. When I got to the room I then realized I had a pile of Hilton match plays that expired an hour ago. I couldn’t believe I didn’t notice the dates on these were 12/28/08. What a bummer it is to throw away all that EV!

Total win/loss for the day -$100
Total comps for the day $183
