Day 12
Tuesday December 30, 2008

Today when we finally got up it was time to do a short coupon run out to Rancho to use up some more $25 match play coupons before they expired. The first stop was Texas Station for some $10 match plays. They only had a few tables open but we managed to get a seat at one. I got dealt a blackjack and the dealer actually paid this properly, unlike most casinos, and gave me $30 as it was considered a $20 bet. Dee got beat by a point but we got out of there with a win and were now 34 for 63 on coupons.

Over across the street at Fiesta Rancho we hit the roulette table. We switched things up a bit and I went first but took my normal black. I hit and then Dee went with her odd and also won for a nice $100 win taking us to 36 for 65. Switching up here actually made us win both coupons. Had we gone our normal way we would have split so a last minute choice turned out to be a good one.

The next stop was off to Santa Fe Station. When we walked in I recognized a floor person in another pit. It was this really tall guy that I nicknamed Too Tall” on my last trip. I sort of eyeballed us when we walked in but didn’t say anything. We got back to normal here and Dee went first with odd and I followed with black. We won them both and cashed in yet another $100 and were now 38 for 67 so far this trip.

We were both hungry since we hadn’t eaten since last night at the Cal so we went to the Feast Buffet at Santa Fe. I’ve never had this buffet before but Stations has also been pretty consistent with its buffets so I figured it would be good. Lunch was normally $10.99 but $9.99 with a Boarding Pass. I also used a 2 for 1 coupon out of the POV and then used points to pay the balance. Even with out the points 2 people can eat lunch for $10 and that’s a pretty good deal. This was a standard Stations buffet with different foods at each area from Mexican, Italian, Chinese, BBQ, American and more. They also had a nice selection of desserts including soft and hard ice cream.

On the way out of Santa Fe Dee went to wash her hands. I noticed Too Tall wasn’t around so sat at a BJ table to burn another match play. I didn’t realize it but it was a 6-5 BJ table. I didn’t worry about it though for 1 hand. I got dealt a 19 against a dealer 3. She flipped over a 10 for 13, followed up by an ace and then an 8 for a bust. I was never so happy to see an ace before and collected another $50 taking us to 39 for 68 on coupons.

When we left Santa Fe we were going to head back to the Hilton to take a break but took a quick detour over to Encore to see it since it had opened a few days ago. This place is VERY nice. Even the bathrooms are fancy and classy. I liked the layout and design of the place but realize my action here wouldn’t do much for them.

After quick look around here we hit the Hilton to take a break. After a much needed nap we were refreshed and it was time to head out. We were going to meet Anne & Steve at Silverton but Anne was sick so we skipped that. I wanted to go to Hard Rock to use some coupons they sent me along with some POV coupons when I realized my mailer expired yesterday. I wanted to cry as I had a $100 free bet coupon & $50 in food. That’s my fault again for not looking at the dates on things when planning our runs. We still wanted to go to Silverton though so that’s what the plan was but with a quick detour. That detour was to Terrible’s to use a few match plays. We stuck with our standard odd and black. Dee won hers but I lost mine. I was close as the ball almost seems to stick between the red and black before it dropped into the red slot. We were now 40 of 70 for coupons on this trip so far.

This was just a hit and run at Terrible’s so we left here and it was on to Anne’s house to drop off some gifts and our extra supplies for the trip and then it was on to Silverton to play for a while. When we got there they were doing a drawing and it was jammed by the Bass Pro Shop. We got out of there as quickly as we could and went to the other end of the casino. We started off with penny slots but couldn’t seem to get any play for our money at all. I suggested to Dee that we play some VP. We sat at a bank we were on last week where I could play quarters and she could play 2 cents. We played jacks or better. Her version was 8/5 which I thought wasn’t too bad considering it was 2 cent triple play. I wanted to take a shot so I played quarter 10- play. Things were choppy for me to start and the first bill disappeared quickly. The next bill lasted for the duration of play. I wasn’t getting very many dealt winners better than trips. In fact I only had one flush dealt and 3 straights. I did manage to get trips quite a bit and managed to pull quite a few quads. The low point of this session was going 5 of 7 hands and getting nothing in return. This is tough in 10-play. The other tough point was drawing aces 7 times during this session. Normally that’s great but I was playing jacks or better and not bonus like I play often. Not only did I hit 7 sets of aces, one hand I was dealt 3 aces, pulled the 4th on 3 hands, 2 of which had kickers. Oh that pain. While we were playing Yahtzee Mike called me and said hey listen. I heard jackpot music playing. The lucky guy got another jackpot. He’s been on fire this week! I had a good session here and ran over 13k through the machine and walked with a $200 win for the session and offset the few penny slot losses from earlier.

It was late now and time to eat. The Sundance Grill was the place of choice. There was a 20 minute wait to get in and I wasn’t thrilled with that. Normally I’d leave and go elsewhere but based on where the Silverton is, by the time we would have left and gotten somewhere it would have been 20 minutes so we stayed and walked through the casino and checked out the fish tank and sat outside of Shady Grove until the beeper they gave us went off.

I couldn’t decide on breakfast or dinner so I went with a BBQ bacon cheeseburger with French fries. It was tasty and did the trick but I wished I had breakfast when I was done wit hit!

It was pretty late now and we still had to get back to the room to pack up for tomorrow so we left to get back to the Hilton even though we really wanted to play more.

When we got back to the Hilton it was time to pack up and go through all the crap we accumulated. I got through packing my clothes and then started going through crap. I decided I was too tired so went to bed and I’d clean up that stuff in the morning.

Total win/loss for the day $150
Total comps for the day $291
