Day 2
December 14, 1999

Woke up and called Alice first thing to set up the dinner at Toucan Harry’s. She said she would take care of it and things would be ready when I got there that night.

Took a quick trip out to Albertson’s to pick up some snacks and sodas for the room. As I was walking through the casino to leave I saw a guy hit a progressive machine for over $12,000. I think I he was as shocked as I was. Of course as soon as the bells went off a whole group of change people and waitresses started hovering around him. After bringing the groceries up to the room I went over to the Sahara. They were offering double points during December until the 24th. Triple points on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sahara gives .5% cash back so triple points were worth 1.5%. This is a great deal. Played Jacks or better and some short pay deuces (short on the wild royal and 5 of a kind). Ran about $5,000 through the machines but lost $300.

Returned to the Stardust to get ready for dinner. Went down to the coffee shop and there was a very long line since it was peak time for dinner. I passed the line to ask about my reservation and comp that was supposed to be waiting for me. Everything was waiting for me and I was seated immediately. I’m sure that pissed off a few people that were waiting in that long line! Good for ‘em! HAHA. I started off with a chicken finger appetizer. This was way too much for an appetizer. It was 7 huge chicken fingers. Some of the biggest I ever saw. Well I of course ate one of them and those of you that have read my reports in the past know I would be taking them with me when I left. I ordered Surf and Turf for my meal. It was a petite filet mignon and jumbo fried shrimp. Well they got it right. The filet sure was petite. They were a bit off on the shrimp though. They were pretty small and were butterflied before being battered to give the appearance they were bigger. The food was great and I was stuffed but still had to have dessert. After all it was an unlimited comp. Ordered a slice of chocolate layer cake and a large glass of milk. The cake was great and topped off a nice dinner. The only bad thing about the dinner was at the table across from me there was a little kid about 2 years old that would occasionally just scream as loud as he could for no apparent reason. Let me tell you this kid sure could scream.

After dinner walked over to Circus-Circus and played Blackjack. Lost about $300 in about an hour. The dealer started getting hot so I decided to leave. Walked all of the way up to the Mirage where I got a table games card and sat in at a double deck game. Lost for a while as the cards just weren’t running for me. Then I decided to make another buy-in and got down to my last bet. I won that bet and made a slow comeback. I was only down $50 on the day and instead of quitting I tried to get the last $50 back. Of course you know what happens whenever you try to do that. Yup, I lost everything like a jerk. Started walking back to the Stardust and for some reason stopped at the New Frontier and played more blackjack there. Played for about a half an hour and won $200. Left the New Frontier and went back to the Stardust. When I returned to the Stardust for some stupid reason I played more Blackjack. Of course I should have known this wasn’t my day to win but I played anyway and of course lost again. I finally decided to quit after that and headed back up to the room. I started packing up my things for my move tomorrow to the New Frontier. I finished off the night with a snack and a quick Jacuzzi and finally went to bed at about 4:30am.

Total win/loss for the day -$2000
Total comps for the day $75
