Day 11
December 23, 1999

Slept in late today and started my day by heading over to the Hard Rock to meet VG for a comped lunch at Mr. Lucky’s 24/7 coffee shop. He was already there waiting for me and had a bucket of quarters. He had just hit 2 quads on video poker while he was waiting. Then he told me he hit a royal earlier that morning at Barley’s for $600. Lucky bastard. He hits $700 on video poker then I end up buying lunch (with comps of course!) After eating lunch we tried out our luck on some more video poker, with no luck. After we both lost he headed home and I headed up to Henderson to pick up my laundry.

From Henderson I headed back out to the Silverton. I still had a few coupons that they gave me last week when I signed up for their slot card last week. All the blackjack tables were packed so I played some video poker. This was just pure video poker hell. I couldn’t hit anything. I gave up after losing $600 in no time at all. Didn’t hit the quad 7’s for the 100 coin bonus and didn’t get to use the $50 for $40 buy-in coupon either.

Went back down to Harrah*s and walked over to the Mirage to use the buffet comp I got the night before. Things were good here. There was a line about a mile long waiting to get in but the complimentary line had no one in it. I quickly scooted right past all the people that had a 45-minute wait ahead of them and was seated immediately! Getting a comped meal is great but having the chance to walk to the front of a long line is even better! A comp buffet also included a selection from the bar too. This is a pretty good buffet. It would be even better if I like seafood since they had shrimp and crab legs too. Most of what I ate was very good with the exception of the prime rib. It was very tough and over done. But then on another trip to the buffet I saw someone that had a really nice slice of it. It looked much better than the slice I had but I decided to try the turkey this time. This was a real turkey breast, still on the bone. Not one of those pressed and formed ones that many of the buffets serve. It was very good. The desserts were great too. They had everything from pies, cakes and cookies to Jell-O and bread pudding. One thing that seemed unusual at this buffet was the large amount of screaming kids there were. As if that’s not bad enough the parents let them run all over the place and serve themselves when they could barely even reach the foods. Overall this is a good buffet but unless you like seafood I don’t think its worth the $15 price tag that’s attached to it.

After dinner I headed back downtown to Binion’s Horseshoe for another session of single deck blackjack. Played for about 3 hours and walked away a $1,000 winner. I was up higher but tried to take a shot with some larger bets and it didn’t work out. The dealer suddenly got hot when I decided to increase my bets. Left downtown about midnight and didn’t even get a steak dinner. I was still full from the buffet I had earlier. Got back to the room and started packing up some stuff for tomorrows move to Sam’s town. I’ll be staying there for my last 3 nights with full RFB.

Total win/loss for the day $350
Total comps for the day $ 70
