Day 14
December 26, 1999
This was my last day in Las Vegas. Tomorrow I would be going home. I started out with breakfast at Mary’s diner then headed downtown for one last session of blackjack at Binion’s Horseshoe. Played 2 hands at $100 each and with in a few minutes was up $2000. Played a little more and lost some but still cashed out up $1500 in less than an hour. At first I couldn’t do anything wrong. I was hitting all my doubles and splits and the dealer was breaking like crazy. Even when the dealer didn’t break I had her beat on points.
Went back to Sam’s for a little video poker. Lost. Lost. Lost. Couldn’t hit anything to keep me playing. Even tried some $5 video poker and lost more. On this machine I didn't get anything better than a pair of jacks or better. Not having any luck on the machines I decided to take one last shot at blackjack. Things were just as bad here. I lost 3 hands with 20, pushed 2 with 21 and even pushed a blackjack. It was time to give up on the tables for this trip.
Went up to Mary’s diner for a late lunch and had a blue-plate special turkey dinner. It was good as it always is. Also a good deal at only $4.95. After lunch took one more shot at video poker. Played for about an hour and got up really fast. Then things were up and down. I cashed out even and called it quits on gambling for this trip. Went up to room to start packing up my things one last time. About half way through I went down to Town Hall to collect my cash back for this trip. I had over 71,000 points. Only 31,000 were from this trip. The other 40,000 were from my August trip and I never collected on them when I left. I got $66 cash back for these points. After collecting my cash back I went up to Mary’s diner for a late night dinner. They have a deal here similar to Binion’s. It’s 10-ounce NY strip, salad, vegetable, and baked potato for $3.49. I topped that off with an ice cream sundae and called it a night. I went back up to the room to finish packing and caught part of Extreme Championship Wrestling’s Hardcore TV. I think they were a week behind on this broadcast though since they were advertising upcoming events that happed over a week before. I finally got everything packed except for what I needed in the morning and went to bed. I need to be well rested for tomorrow’s flight back to NY.
