Day 15
December 27, 1999

Up early to finish packing and to get ready for the flight home. Finished off the trip by going to Mary’s Diner for one last comp. A roast beef sandwich to go for the flight home.

Took one last trip down Boulder Highway and then up the strip to Sunset Road to return the car to Alamo. I prepaid for gas in the car this trip which I don’t usually do. I think I drove into the lot on fumes. When the agent checked the car she asked me if I prepaid for fuel. I told her I did and she said well it looks like you got your money’s worth on that. It worked out well. I usually don’t pre buy gas because I end up not no using it all and getting ripped off.

Took the shuttle to the airport and checked-in for the flight. Everything was in order and there were no big crowds. I sat down by the gate and ate the sandwich I grabbed at Sam’s. But what was this. A roast beef on white bread? I ordered rye dammit. Oh well. It was still good.

The flight left on time I was on my way to Chicago. They served a small dinner on the plane. There was a choice of chicken strips or a pasta dish. I chose the chicken. It was 3 small strips of chicken breast, a salad, macaroni and cheese, a dinner roll, and some sort of oatmeal and cinnamon bar. It was actually a good meal. We landed in Chicago a few minutes late because of high head winds, but that was no big deal. I had over an hour before my connection anyway. I got to the monitors to see where my connection was and saw that they had moved it from where the agent in Las Vegas originally told me it was. It would also be leaving 10 minutes late. When I got to the gate on the monitor I saw there was no one at this gate and found out they moved the flight again. This was the 3rd different gate for this flight. Well I finally got to the right gate and boarded the plane. The captain came on the loud speaker and told us we would be arriving a little late in Newburgh due to head winds and due to the fact that most flights out of Chicago were leaving late. I finally landed in Stewart-Newburgh just a little late. Called the plant where I work and had one of the guys run up there to pick me up. When he got there I knew vacation was over.

Total win/loss for the day $0
