Day 4
Thursday March 30, 2000

Another day of sleeping in late. Those curtains really do a great job of keeping the light out of the room. I finally got motivated and down to the casino by about 2. Yes, you read that right. 2pm before I got motivated. I decided to try that $1 Triple Play machine that I played yesterday. Started out with Jacks or Better and lost $100 pretty fast. Put another $100 in and lost that pretty quickly too. I figured one more $100 and that will be it. I also moved to Deuces Wild with hopes of hitting the deuces on one of the 3 lines. After no time at all I had the credit meter up to 500. I thought I’d play it down to $300 and cash out even. Well as luck would have it I never got down that low. I was hitting straight flushes and 4 of a kinds frequently. Soon I was up over $700 and decided to play it down to $500 and cash out ahead. Before I knew it I was at over $1000 on the credit meter when I hit my 6th wild royal flush for another $125 win. The new plan was to play down to $1000 and walking with a $700 win. Then I was dealt a 5 of a kind. In Deuces Wild quints are worth 75 coins. On Triple Play getting dealt this hand is worth $225. The coins dropped into the tray on this one. I played the credit meter down to $1000 and took the coins from the tray to the window. The $1000 was a hand pay and was there in just a few minutes. This win was worth almost $850 and brought me back to even for the trip. This was a great run. I played on this machine for about 2 hours and ran over $14,000 through it.

Also while I was playing at this machine I heard my name. I turned and it was my host. She was just checking up on me to make sure my trip went well and asked me if I needed anything. I thought this was a nice move on her part. Usually hosts tell me to call them when I get in or if I need anything. This was the first host that actually ever took the time to find me while playing out on the casino floor.

After cashing out I went to lunch at Mary’s Diner. I ordered soup and a grilled cheese. The soup of the day was cream of broccoli. The soup was really rich and the sandwich was good. After eating I went back down to the casino and played some full pay Deuces Wild on a single line machine. This is actually my favorite game of all the versions of video poker I play. I played for about ½ hour and lost $20.

Now it was time to head out to the airport to pick up friends TRW in PA and her husband. Their flight was arriving at 7:35pm on Southwest Airlines. It was actually 8:10 before they arrived. The “on time” airline had 4 flights scheduled to arrive and depart from the same gate. After the luggage finally arrived we were on our way to Imperial Palace with a quick stop at Vons so T could pick up a few items. They got checked in rather quickly and I helped them carry their bags up to the room. This was my first look at an Imperial Palace room and they aren’t that bad. I’ll be the first to admit they are not anything like the rooms at the Rio or Venetian but for the price and location they are a good deal.

After dropping off the bags we went down to the Imperial Palace casino and I watched them play some slots. T was a little lucky and won a few bucks but D wasn’t so lucky. Not a bad start for only being in town for an hour though.

At 11pm we went up to the Teahouse in Imperial Palace for some of their late night specials. I had the prime rib sandwich. It comes with fries and is only $2.95. While it’s not the best cut of prime rib it’s still a great deal at that price. It was now after midnight which was after 3am their time so it was time to call it a night. We made plans to meet up again tomorrow and then they went to their room and I headed back out to Sam’s Town. On the way to the room I stopped off at Mary’s Diner and grabbed some ice cream and one last time in the Jacuzzi since this was my last night at Sam’s Town. I’d be moving to the New Frontier tomorrow for the next 4 nights.

Total win/loss for the day $850
Total comps for the day $310
