Day 6
Saturday April 1, 2000

Up late today since it was nearly 7am before I actually went to bed after last nights Blackjack marathon. I got up and got ready and had about an hour and a half to play some video poker before heading up to IP to pick up T and D. I played some Deuces Wild on the full pay progressive bank. The machine I had was lightning fast but I couldn’t hit any big hands and lost $200.

It was now going on 4pm and it was time to get to IP to pick them up and to go to the Reserve. The Reserve was running 4X points this weekend. I also have a ton of points there from previous visits so we were going to eat dinner there too. I tried some 50-play video poker and lost $200. I set the machine to play nickels. Just as at the Plaza these machines could be set for nickels, dimes, and quarters. Couldn’t hit the big hands and played about $2,000 through this machine. I moved over to blackjack and lost $500 here too. The tables have not been that great so far this trip.

Got a comp to Congo Jacks Café for the 3 of us and we were off to dinner. I had the very hot turkey dinner, which was good. D had a steak sandwich and T had fish and chips. The food was good but the service was the worst I ever saw it here at the Reserve. Hopefully it was just a bad day for the servers and this won’t be a regular situation occurring here.

After dinner I stopped by the Reserve slot club desk and got a T-shirt with my points. T hinted she would like one and with the 80,000 points I had I sure could spare a few of them for a shirt.

We left the Reserve and took Sunset Road down to the strip. I gave T and D a little mini tour and showed them where Sunset Station was. We didn’t stop there though. As we got closer to the strip I showed them where Wayne Newton’s wall was and showed them the runway that the planes come in on. There is a great view of the strip from out here too. They also saw where Vacation Village was and got to see the “Welcome to fabulous Las Vegas” sign for the very first time since they had been going to Las Vegas. Traffic was a bitch on the Strip tonight, as I knew it would be. It took over an hour to get from Mandalay Bay to the Imperial Palace. We didn’t seem to mind though as we were having a good time looking at the sites and our luck in the casinos really sucked. This was actually saving us money.

When we got back to IP I valet parked the car and we walked over to Harrah*s to see if there was any entertainment in the Carnival Court. There wasn’t but there was a band in the lounge right inside. We listened to them until they went on break. This is where the real entertainment started though. The singer of the band was walking across the court to one of the shops and one of those timeshare salesmen started hitting on her. She kept trying to get away but since he’s a salesman he seemed very persistent. She finally broke away but he kept his eye on her. Then when his back was turned she ran by and back into Harrah*s. He started walking over to the shop she went in and noticed she was gone. You should have seen the look of disappointment on this guy’s face. Then he started pacing around and then even went into Harrah*s. This was pretty funny. Then the next time he finally saw her she was back on stage singing. I guess it was NO SALE for him tonight!

After listening to the band a little longer we walked over to Bellagio where I went in and got a slot card. I didn’t play anything here today though. After I got my card we went outside to catch some fountain shows. It was getting late so we called it a night.

Total win/loss for the day -$900
Total comps for the day $254
