Day 9
Tuesday April 4, 2000

Got up and packed up for my move to Bally’s. I have the $19 rate for the first 3 nights and $129 for Friday. That’s a lot higher than I am used to paying but it was easier than moving for one night. I checked in a little early and the room they gave me wasn’t ready yet. Housekeeping was still in there cleaning up. The room was not bad but there were stains all over the carpet and it was right over Flamingo Road. I went back down to the check in area and with T and we pretended we were together. We asked for a different room and for an upgraded room close to the elevator since she was pregnant and this would be the last trip we would be taking for a while. We also asked for a room on the 24th floor because there we had friends staying on that floor. (Actually T and D were staying on that floor) After looking I was offered a junior suite on the 24th floor but not close to the elevator. I said that it would be ok since our friends were right down the hall. How’s that for a sneaky way to get a room upgrade?

I was in room 2492. The room was just a larger room then the standard room for the most part. The room also had sliding glass doors and a balcony. The view from the balcony was of the pool area, the airport, the Hard Rock, and the south end of the Strip. The room was furnished with a TV cabinet/dresser combo, a king bed with a canopy and mirrors over it, a bench at the foot of the bed, 2 nightstands, 2 chairs and a table with chairs. The bathroom was a good size. It wasn’t the largest bathroom but it was bigger than most hotel bathrooms are.

After getting settled into room I went down to the casino and played a short pay version of Deuces Wild on the Lucky Draw 4 play machines. I ended up losing $100 and it was time to head out to the Silverton to meet my friend Anne.

When I got to the Silverton Anne was playing Blackjack and I went and got a comp for dinner at their coffee shop. I had the nights special. It was filet mignon medallions, veggies, baked potato, rolls, and soup for $9.99. Not that price really mattered. It was comped of course.

After dinner we played some Blackjack. I started off well with the dealer breaking just about every hand. After the shuffle things just got bad. They got worse when a new dealer showed up. I ended up losing $500. After that I moved over to a $1 video poker machine and lost a $100 bill here too. Then I tried a 50-cent Triple Play machine and lost $100 here too. Decided to try Blackjack again and lost $500 in what seemed like record time. I sat out for a while and then bought in for just $200 more. Played for quite a while and then cashed out with $700 leaving me even at this table. Anne’s luck wasn’t much better.

Anne had to work the next day so we both quit playing. She went home and I headed back to Bally’s and met up with T and D again. We played some slots. I lost a $20 with no hits on a machine in a bank called Lucky Sevy. These were Bally slots with a bonus feature. If Sevy (a red seven with a face) landed on the pay line you got a bonus payoff of $10-$1000. Sevy also substituted for other sevens. I moved to the machine next to it and got the credit meter up to 500 coins but like a dick put it all back in.

It was getting late and T and D went up to bed and I went over to the Barbary Coast to get a late night special. The girl told me it would be about a 15-minute wait so I went over to the Deuces Wild machines. No sooner did I put a $20 into the bill acceptor and they called me back. The service here kind of sucked but the meal was a good price. I had the egg special which was 2 eggs, toast, hash browns and bacon (or sausage) for $2.45.

After eating I went back to the Deuces Wild machine and played for about an hour before losing the $20 I started with. Walked back over to Bally’s and went to bed at around 4am.

Total win/loss for the day -$850
Total comps for the day $ 30
