Day 11
April 6, 2000

Got up early today to make use of the free buffet that comes with the $19 room rate. T and D got comps from their play and we all went together. It’s not a bad buffet but I don’t really think it was worth the $9.99 they normally charge. One good thing about the comp buffet that came with the $19 room rate is they include the tip, which is unusual.

After breakfast we all went down to the Stardust. They were playing slots and they were ice cold. I tried some Blackjack and things started out ok but then were bad. Then I started to win one hand and lose another. I was already down another $200 on top of everything else so I quit and we went back to Bally’s.

At Bally’s I was watching T play some slots and decided to go play some more Blackjack. Things started off really good here as I got up by $450 right away. Then things turned and I ended up losing all that back and was back down to my original buy in. Things then went up and down and then down and down. I was down to just $200 but figured I might as well keep playing. The cards started turning now and I was winning a little bit. The cards kept running so I bumped my bets up. After about an hour more of play I was actually ahead by $1300. I decided that since I was just a little bit down for the entire trip I would quit while I could and then took a short break before heading down to the Imperial Palace for the meet that was organized on the Las Vegas Talk Discussion Board.

The meet was held in the Mai Tai Lounge at the Imperial Palace and some of the attendees were Rick T in BC, Ed and Suzy in Pa., George and Gail from MD, TRW in PA, Donna in WA, Laura from Milwaukee and her mom, and regular meet attendees VG, Rosco and Frank the webmaster from the Las Vegas Talk Discussion board.

After the meet we walked back over to Bally’s and T got a comp for 3 for the Sidewalk Café. I had a chicken sandwich that came with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a pickle and antipasto salad. The sandwich was good after I flicked off the tomato and onion. I gave T my pickle. The salad was nasty though.

After dinner we walked over to Caesars Palace so I could sign up for a slot card there. After I got my card I played a $20 bill and earned 1 point on my card. I’ll see what kind of offers if any I get from that kind of play!

After I played my $20 we went down to The Cheesecake Factory. To try out the cheesecake everyone talks so much about. Tried the chocolate mousse cheesecake. It was good but never having it before it was tough to compare it to anyone else’s. I really don’t think it was worth the $6 and change that it cost either.

Also got to see the Atlantis show that is right outside the Cheesecake Factory. It’s just like the other show with the moving statues. It’s louder than hell and you can’t understand a friggen word that is being said.

Back at Bally’s I watched T play some slots and then I went and played some video poker. I tried the short pay Deuces Wild on the Lucky Draw machines again. This time I was luckier than the last time and hit the deuces for 1250 coins. (This machine pays 1250 with max coin in for quad ducks) I played until my initial buy in was gone and then quit. I was now actually ahead for the trip for the first time in over a week.

After my win I walked over to the Barbary Coast for another late night special. This is just not the place to go if you want service. After waiting about 15 minutes for someone to take my order the waitress finally showed up. She took the order of the table next to me. They both ordered the egg special. She then came over to the other side of my table and took my order. I also had the egg special. About 10 minutes later their food came and it wasn’t until about 15 minutes after they got their food that mine finally arrived. I couldn’t understand this since the orders were taken at the same time. The food was still good even though the wait really sucked. It was now late so I just walked back over to Bally’s and went to bed.

Total win/loss for the day $1200
Total comps for the day $ 12
