Day 1
Wednesday July 12, 2000
Today was my first day off from work and my one day to prepare for tomorrows big trip to Las Vegas. My first piece of business would be to drive my truck up to where I work, park my truck and walk up to the airport terminal to pick up my rental car from Avis. I am renting a car from Avis to drive down to Newark since I couldn’t get a decent flight out of my local airport in Newburgh.

Everything was in order at Avis and I reserved a mid-sized car for $72.99. I got a 19% discount from my auto club that brought the price down to $59.12. That’s not a bad price to get to the airport but of course I would have rather been able to fly from Stewart-Newburgh and just parked my truck at work. Oh well. Maybe next time.

After picking up the car I ran all of my errands for the day and then headed home to clean up the house and get myself packed for tomorrow’s big trip. I had to try to get to bed early because I had to get up in the morning like I was going to work. My landlord who is also a co-worker was going to drive me up to the plant to pick up my truck so I wouldn’t have to leave it in the parking lot there for the whole trip. Since I would be getting picked up in Newark at the end of my trip I wouldn’t need it to be at work so I could come home. That pretty much made up my day. I was just a few hours away from heading to Las Vegas!
