Day 8
Wednesday July 19,2000

Up early again today and down to the pool. Today is moving day so after a while at the pool I went back up to the room to pack up my things and get ready to check out. This was the one hotel where I was actually paying one night at casino rate of $35. After I packed up I checked the TV to make sure my charges were correct but they weren’t. They for some reason never charged me for the 3rd night! YES! I beat them on the room charges again. After seeing the good news I went down to the casino to cash in the quarters from last nights Flip-It win and to redeem the $25 voucher that came with my room package. I finally left the room at about 1pm (1 hour past check out time but, they’ll get over it!)

I waited at the valet for quite a while to get my car as it seemed there were only 2 guys running the whole show. After they finally brought my car I drove next door to the New Frontier where I would be spending the next 4 nights in one of their Atrium Suites on a comp.

I was able to check in early at about 1pm and was given suite 884. I had this room in the past and it has a good view of the north end of the strip and of the pool area. One thing that I thought was nice was to see that they still hadn’t fixed the hinge on the closet door that was falling off last December when I stayed in this room!

After I unpacked I decided to go out to Boulder Highway and check out the new Arizona Charlie’s East. The casino is pretty nice with a good selection of machines. There is plenty of full-pay video poker. The grounds are nice but the hotel is actually a motel style complex where the entrances to the rooms are actually outside. The rates posted on the sign outside said rooms starting at $29/night. The first thing I did here was to go to the slot club and sign up for a Charlie Card. They do accept the Casino Player 5,000 point sign up bonus coupon here so if you have one of them be sure to bring it along if you plan on visiting. The guy that signed me up filled out a point adjustment form and gave me a copy of it saying my points would be added within 72 hours. I was also told I would be getting an additional 1,000 points for joining in the month of July which would be added by the end of the month. Points here are earned at the rate of 1 point for every dollar of coin in. For most items points are redeemed at 500 per $1 in comps. There is no cash back but you can get comps for the Boulder Highway Texaco station or at other retailers in Las Vegas like Macy’s, and Dillard’s.

After I got my card I grabbed some fried rice at Panda Express in the food court. After I ordered I realized that it was a mistake since I could have gone up to the Sourdough Café and ordered the steak and eggs special for the same price.

When I finished my snack I played some video poker at the bar near the lounge right on the main casino floor. I didn’t have much luck here as I lost about $120. I decided to go over to the tables and play some Blackjack. Things were pretty good here and I cashed out up by $200. Since the casino opened up a few weeks before it was actually nice to play on a table where the chips were still like new and the tables weren’t all nasty yet.

When I left Arizona Charlie’s it was about dinner time so I drove up to Henderson and visited the Reserve again. I started off at the 50-play video poker. I got up $200 quite fast so I decided to play a few hands at the quarter level and won another $200. I cashed out with a $400 win. I didn’t hit any royal flushes this time and I only hit quad aces 8 times. One of those was at the quarter level though.

After getting my hand pay I got a comp for Tusk’s Steakhouse. I had the 10oz. Filet again. It was good as usual. One funny thing that happened was when the server brought out my rolls. He gave me a basket of rolls that would have fed a small army. As he sat them on the table he told me he knew he brought out way too many of them. They must have baked too many of them because he was bringing out too many at all of the tables. After rolling out of the restaurant I drove back down to the New Frontier.

I decided to take my shot at the full-pay Deuces Wild progressive. I didn’t hit the progressive but I did hit the deuces and cashed out $100. It was getting late so I decided to quit for the day and go back up to the room.

Total win/loss for the day $600
Total comps for the day $114
