Day 12
Sunday July 23, 2000

Woke up early this morning by a ringing phone. It was my father calling to see how things were going. Why is it I always get early phone calls when I’m out all night? I packed up all of my stuff and got ready for today’s final move to Sam’s Town.

Before checking out I went to the slot club and got my cash back and a comp to the buffet. Cash back was $28 and half of that was from my last trip. Since it was Sunday they were calling the buffet a Champagne Brunch but I didn’t see any champagne anywhere. That’s ok though since I really didn’t want any. The foods here at this buffet weren’t very good at all. The selection was weak and the quality was average at best. I honestly think that the buffet at Circus-Circus is better. The desserts were lame too. There was one cake and one pie along with some Danish and cookies. The pie was all messed up as it was serve yourself. Service here sucked pretty bad too. Once the server brought my drink I never saw him again and I had eaten 3 plates of food. He was tipped accordingly when I left.

I left the New Frontier and it was still early so I ran a few errands before going over to Sam’s Town. The first stop was K-Mart and Mr. Mac Frugals and then up to Henderson to Sparkle Laundromat. There was actually a thunderstorm on my way there. It was raining really heavy for a short while before the sun came back out.

I finally got to Sam’s Town at around 3pm and check in was a breeze. There was only one person ahead of me there and I was in my suite before I knew it. I was in 458 this trip, just one floor down from the suite I had in March. They were both identical to each other. I also had a gold card for complimentary food and beverages in all of their restaurants. I got myself settled in as this would be my home for the next 4 1/2 days and went down to the casino.

My first play was the Lucky Draw machines and some video poker. Couldn’t seem to hit anything and lost quite a bit here. I moved to some Triple Play machines and lost there too. My next move was to the tables. It wasn’t really to play but it was to look for my friend Anne and her mother as we would be meeting up again tonight. I found Anne at a blackjack table where she was getting beat up. Anne’s mom went to play some machines and we went up to Mary’s Diner to get something to eat. The service here sucked as it usually does. I can only count the times I got good service here on one hand but the food is always good and it’s pretty quick so I like going there. I had the fried shrimp dinner. It’s 6 deep fried shrimp, potato, and veggies. The food was good as it usually is.

After eating we tried our luck with some blackjack. I was going up and down and Anne was getting killed. She left to go play some video poker but I stayed. I eventually got back to even and cashed out. We all played some video poker for a while and I still couldn’t win to save my life. After getting killed my friends left and I was still in the mood to play. This turned out to be a mistake. I lost at every table I went to. Things were terrible. I was losing with 20’s more than ever and pushing with 21’s and blackjacks. Getting aggravated I decided to go to bed and wait for tomorrow to try some more.

Total win/loss for the day -$1200
Total comps for the day $316
