Got out of work at 6am. I'm just a little over 24 hours away from my big Christmas/30thBirthday trip to Las Vegas! Normally I go home after work and wind down then head for bed. Not today though. There are a ton of things I need to get done before heading out on this trip. When I got home I had to keep busy so I wouldn't fall asleep. I had a reservation at Avis at my local airport to rent a car that I would be dropping off at Newark the next day. Normally I like to fly from my local airport but the fares were just way too high this time around.
At about 9am I went back up to where I work. I parked my car there and had one of my friends that was working at the time run me up to the terminal. There's usually no line at this counter and today was no exception. In just a few minutes I had the keys to a red Oldsmobile Alero. This car was not in great shape. It only had 20,000 miles on it but they must have been rough. It was also kind of dirty as well. There was this nasty red sticky goo on the bottom of the steering wheel. The windows were filthy as well. Not wanting to be bothered I dealt with the car. I wasn't going to driving it a lot anyway.
Now I am off to run all of my errands that need to be completed before leaving in the morning. I arrived back home at about 1:30pm. At 2pm I finally crashed for one hour of sleep. By this time I was already up for 23 hours. This 1-hour nap really helped quite a bit. I felt better now.
Now my friend called and was ready to drive me back up to the plant to get my car. Normally I leave my car there but with the chance of a snow it would be sure to get buried while I was away. Returned home by about 5pm to finish getting ready for the trip.
Now the good stuff starts. It's time to pack for the big trip. This is one part of the trip I hate the most. Between this and cleaning the house before I leave I don't know what I hate the most. After hours of dilly-dallying I finally got done with everything that needed to be done around 11pm. I finally got to bed around 1am. With the exception of that 1-hour nap, I've been up for 34 hours straight. 4 am sure will get here fast. That sounds bad but actually the faster it gets here the faster I get to Las Vegas!
