Day 7
Thursday December 21, 2000
Treasure Island meet, Castaways and down & back at Caesars Palace

I got up early today with the help of the sun shining in my face since I didn't shut the curtains last night. Did my normal routine checking e-mail and a few other things. I ended up getting booted off line about 3 minutes after I signed on. This wasn't a good thing and I was hoping it wasn't going to happen again since the crooks here at Caesars charge $1 for a local call. I was lucky enough not to get booted again though.

After I got ready I walked down to Treasure Island for the meet organized on the Las Vegas Talk Discussion board. It included Dusty from Vegas, Laura, VG of VG Enterprises, Dmitry and Jimbo & Katy from Columbus. Sitting right next to us reading the newspaper was an older woman that was incorporated into our meet. Her name was Clora and she was from Dublin Ireland. She seemed to really enjoy company since she was traveling alone. She even went to the bar to get herself a drink and told the bartender to run a tab for the whole group. I thought that was pretty nice of her. To see a picture of this meet click here.

After the meet I walked back over to Caesars and got my car. I had to run to the post office to get some stamps so I could mail some things out. I chose the one on Sunset Rd since it's the easiest one to get to that I know of.

From the post office I headed over to Castaways to check in. I didn't need the room but it was part of a deal I couldn't pass up. The offer included 2 free nights $15 in cash and dinner in the Pelican cafe or the Buffet. There was no one at check in so I was in right away. I have room 718. I was surprised how nice the rooms actually were. The room was very large with a king bed. This room was about twice the size of most standard rooms.

There was also a table with chairs, TV cabinet, dresser, 2 nightstands and a desk. There was also a make up counter just outside the bathroom. The bathroom was very small. This I just don't understand. The room is huge but the bathroom is so small you need to close the door to get into the shower or even use the toilet. There is a hairdryer and a coffee maker that is supplied with coffee packets. I had a view of the big Showboat sign and the rest of the Boulder Strip. After resting for a while I went to dinner.

I chose the coffee shop since I found out it was an unlimited comp good for appetizer, entree, beverage and dessert. It wasn't a hard decision. A semi good $6 buffet OR a fully comped sit down meal cooked to order. I ordered a 6oz filet mignon. It comes with vegetable of the day, which was squash and zucchini, potato, rolls, and a salad or soup. Today's soup was Egg Drop. It was pretty good but nothing like Chinese food egg drop. It was thick with what looked to be fried eggs sliced up and dropped in. For an appetizer I got chicken fingers as usual. You may wonder why I always order Chicken fingers as my appetizer. It's quite simple actually. They are easy to take with me and keep easy for a late night snack when I get up to the room late at night!

The chicken fingers were huge. Almost like chicken cutlets. There were 4 of them and I only ate one knowing I would be taking them with me. The filet came and was cooked perfect to for me. Medium rare, but closer to rare. Dripping with blood! This was a good meal. I finished off with a slice of black forest cake. I took that with me along with the chicken fingers and a roll.

I went back to Caesars after dinner for my final night there. I decided to take a walk through the area and get some more pictures to add to my website for those of you that like to see them. I walked through the Forum shops and back through the casino. On my way out of Caesars there was a guy asleep on the couch in the middle of the lobby. This guy was out like a light. I walked over to Bellagio where I went to the conservatory. It's done in Christmas colors with lots of poinsettia. There was also a huge Christmas tree. From what I understand Martha Stewart decorated it. That would explain why it was so friggen ugly. Really, it was UGLY! While I was there I caught a fountain show from the hotel side of the lake instead of from the street. It was nice to see it from a different vantage point.

I went to my room and dropped off my camera and went down to the casino. I tried some of the triple play half-dollar machines. These things were effing vacuum cleaners today. I lost $300 in less than 15 minutes. I wanted to try some blackjack after this. I sat at a shoe game alone and played 2 hands at $25 each. I won a total of 4 hands. The dealer kept getting 20, 21 or blackjack and I was getting crap like 14, 15, and 16. Of course when I hit I broke unlike him. Dumped another $500 here. Things weren’t looking good here tonight. I found a double deck game in another casino. They offer good rules here, like stand on all 17's, split up to 4 hands and double after split. The only bad thing is penetration was LESS than half. Things were pretty good here. I quickly got ahead a few hundred but then just hovered back and forth staying at about the same level. About 1 1/2 later I cashed out with $1400 for a $900 win. This also put me up for the day. Just a damn shame that whenever I have a good blackjack win it's right after a loss at something else.

It's now about 1:30am. I'm going to jump in the Jacuzzi one last time and grab a snack. (Remember the chicken fingers and cake??!!) Then it's bedtime. Tomorrow is moving day. I'll be going over to Paris for the weekend.

Total win/loss for the day $100
Total comps for the day $138
