Day 9
Wednesday April 4, 2001
The final day in Las Vegas

I got up and got motivated a bit early today. I don’t have much planned today other than to pick up my laundry and attend the meet at Treasure Island. Other than that I’ll finish up my trip with a little bit more VP before packing my stuff up and getting ready to head home tomorrow.

To start things out I went up to Henderson to pick up my laundry. There is a Terrible Herbst gas station up there too so it was a good opportunity to use the $5 voucher I got from the casino a few days ago. Of course, the employees there had no clue on what to do with the voucher so after 10 minutes of standing there they finally called the store manager of and she took care of the situation.

After gassing up I made one last visit to the Reserve to have lunch. I ordered the Feel Good Wonton soup again. It’s one of my favorite items to order here.

From the Reserve I went down to the Post Office on Tropicana and Mountain Vista. From there it was time to head to the meet that was organized on the Las Vegas Talk Discussion Board. The regulars, VG and Dusty were there and so was Houston Sue, now known as Vegas Sue. MM San Diego and his father were there and Dewey Decimal too. Frank the webmaster and even Gene were there. A picture of this meet can be seen by clicking here. Gene stayed for a while but then went to go play in the casino. After the meet Frank, Gary and me found Gene at the blackjack tables. He wasn’t doing too bad but wasn’t getting ahead. He cashed out even. We all went our own ways and I came back here to the Suncoast.

When I got up here to the room there was a message on the room voice mail from Donna, the executive host at the Suncoast. She said she looked at my play and told me I was doing very well and she had comped my room for the entire stay. She asked that if I had the chance before leaving to find her so she could see me before I went home. I just looked up my account and the room was comped but the 2 meals were still on there. I’ll try to get that stuff taken care of after today’s play.

I went down to the casino and decided to play some $1 NSUD. I was doing good here hitting plenty of small hands and even a few wild royal flushes. About 15 minutes into my play I held single deuce and pulled the other 3 for a $1,000 hit. I had the credits over $1,300 now. I played for about another 45 minutes and played down to $1,000 before cashing out a $900 win.

After that nice win I machine hopped for a while. I won a little at some machines and lost a little at others. I eventually quit doing this when I was up about $50. Not a bad profit for quarters.

It was getting late and I wanted to catch Donna before she left for the day. I went to the slot club and she came out of the office. She asked how I liked my stay and said my play was great and hoped to see me on my next trip. I told her I liked the place and planned on being back and that Sam’s Town was history. She liked the sound of that. I asked her about the 2 meals on my room charge and she said she would take care of everything and gave me a comped meal to the coffee shop.

Over at Café Siena I sat at the counter since the place was packed. I ordered a final filet mignon off the menu as my last meal in Las Vegas before going home. The service kind of sucked here tonight but it turned out the girl working the counter was new and just started a few days ago. There was a guy sitting next to me bitching to me about how the service was slow tonight. I agreed with him and we got to talking. He said the craps table was ice cold but he had one good shooter and got even and ran away from the table. He mentioned one of his family members went to the Culinary Institute of America. I actually live about 45 minutes away from there and it turned out this guy lived about 30 minutes from where I live now. He moved to Las Vegas about 6 years ago from NY.

The meal came and the filet was cooked perfectly. It arrived medium rare with plenty of blood running out of it. I topped off the dinner with some Mississippi Mud Pie and called it a night.

My last stop was the slot club to cash out my points. They were running double for all of April. I earned 67,001 points for $33,500 in action plus had the Charter Member sign up bonus of 5,000 points for a total of 72,001. Points are redeemed at 4,000 points for $10 cash or $12 in comps. Since all my meals and rooms were covered by Donna I cashed out the points for $180 cash back. That’s the most cash back I ever got on one trip at any casino. They also have prize levels for certain point levels. 10,000 points will get you a baseball cap. 25,000 gets you a T-shirt and 50,000 gets a sweatshirt. There are also prizes for the 100,000 and 200,000 levels as well as the million-point level. I was up to 72,000 so I got the cap, T-shirt, and sweatshirt. The best part of these prizes is there is no point reduction for them so they really are free.

It is now after 9pm and I’m about to pack up my things and try to get to bed for a little sleep before tomorrow’s flight. My flight leaves at 7am. My plan is to get up at about 4:30. I’ve already set the alarm clocks and requested a wake up call.

Total win/loss for the day $1,000
Total comps for the day $266
