Day 9
Thursday December 20, 2001

I seem to be sleeping later and later every day. It was almost 11 before I rolled out of bed today. I’m pretty much just going to pack and head out to the Suncoast to check in where I‘ll be staying for the next few nights.

I pretty much bummed around all morning in my room. I watched a little TV and spent some time on line. I finally got motivated around 2 and I was on the road by 3. The ride to the Suncoast is pretty easy from here but I guess I hit the rush hour traffic. Traffic was slow. It took a while to get here but I made it.

When I made it to the check in desk there was no one there. Check in took just a few minutes and I was on my way to my suite. I booked this room through superhost Donna Sinclair. She offered a comped room for the next 4 nights. I inquired about an upgrade for my birthday and she came through.

I’m on the 10th floor, which is all suites. I’m in suite 1010. This is a real 1-bedroom suite. It’s not just one of those oversized rooms that most hotels call suites. The entry has a tile floor. To the right is the wet bar area. It has a coffee maker, sink, and refrigerator. There is also a 13-inch TV mounted up on a shelf above the counter. On the other side of the bar there are 3 tall chairs. There is a phone on the top of the bar as well. It’s not just a standard phone but it’s a cordless. The suite is big but I really am not sure if there is a need for a cordless phone but what the hell. Why not?

The living room area has a couch, love seat, coffee table, end table with telephone, and TV cabinet with a 19-inch TV. Farther into the living room there is a dining room table with 6 chairs. The living room has floor to ceiling windows that go the entire length of the room.

There is a door that leads to the bedroom. The bedroom is as large as most standard rooms on the strip. It has a king bed with nightstands on each side. Each stand has a phone. In the corner there is a small arm chair. There is also a TV cabinet/dresser combo with a 19-inch TV. To the right of the bed there is a work desk with a phone. All the furnishings in the bedroom and living room are dark woods. I think they are cherry. There is a huge closet that has double doors. In the closet there is an iron and ironing board. The bedroom also has floor to ceiling windows the run the length of the room.

The bathroom is huge with plenty of space to move. In the far corner is a bathtub. It looks like it should be a Jacuzzi but it’s not. It’s just a regular tub. This is a bit strange since this is such a great suite with the exception of there not being a Jacuzzi. The vanity area has numerous drawers and a large counter top. There is also a 13-inch TV, hair dryer and phone. In the far corner opposite the tub is a huge shower with massage head. Across from the vanity is another room that has the toilet in it as well as a phone.

This is easily the nicest and most luxurious hotel suite I’ve ever been in. Now for those of you keeping score there are 4 televisions in this room as well as 7 telephones. Yes, that’s 7 telephones.

After I got all of my stuff situated I went down to the casino. I found a bank of FPDW and started out pretty well. In about 10 minutes I was lucky enough to hit 4 deuces. Things continued to be good for a while longer but then went down hill. There was a major lack of quads and even a major lack in deuces. I cashed out up only $100 and moved to a different bank of deuces wild machines. Things started off well here too. I didn’t hit the deuces but I did play for a while. That is until things went bad again. I’m not sure if it’s typical but I’ve been going through spells on deuces wild where I am going 40-50 hands without getting any quads and even 20 hands without deuces showing up in my hands. I can’t recall this happening as much as it has been the last few days. It could be selective memory though since I’m getting hammered so bad the last week. I cashed out of this machine down $20 but still up $80 for the day.

I needed a break from the casino since my eyes were hurting. I‘m not sure if it was from staring at VP monitors for the last 3 hours of from cigarette smoke. This is where we are in this report right now. I’m just sitting here taking it easy and typing up today’s events. I’m getting a bit hungry since I haven’t eaten since last night, other than a cookie and a soda before I left the New Frontier. I’ll be heading down to the coffee shop soon for some late night specials. They even have a late night bacon and eggs special for 99 cents. I’m not sure what I‘m going to have yet though.

OK, so I just got back from the casino. I played some more deuces wild and let’s just say that I AM the only loser that can go from being up $280 to being down $50 playing quarter single line video poker.

After my standard daily loss I went over to Café Siena. They have 4 late night specials to choose from. I had the pancake, eggs and bacon special. It’s 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 strips of bacon for just 99c.

It’s now 2am and I’ve had enough for today. It’s time to call it a day and hope for better luck tomorrow.

Total win/loss for the day -$50
Total comps for the day $108
