Day 10
Friday December 21, 2001

I slept late again today and by the time I got ready to go it was after 1pm. I didn’t have any plans of leaving the Suncoast today so I just took my time getting ready.

I went to the casino and instead of my normal deuces wild I decided to try something a little different. I started playing triple play bonus poker. It’s short pay but full pay hasn’t been doing that great for me so I decided it couldn’t hurt. Of course about 15 minutes into play what do I get dealt? You got it, 4 deuces. Not as great a payoff as it would have been on deuces wild but still worth 600 credits. About 20 minutes after that I held 2 deuces and drew 2 more on the middle line. Why is it that I always get quad deuces when I’m not playing deuces wild? I cashed out of this machine ahead by $50.

While I was wandering around the casino looking for something else to play I saw a new game called checkers. The way it works is you get up to 5 kings, then 12 checkers are dealt out and you need to jump as many of them with your kings as you can. Depending on the number of jumps you make you get paid according to a pay table. I tried it and actually got to play for a while on nickels and cashed out even.

It was now getting late so I went up to the room to rest a while before going back downstairs to Café Siena, the coffee shop here at the Suncoast. I ordered the chicken potpie. Instead of a standard crust it comes in a bread bowl. It was very good. It also comes with soup or salad.

After dinner I was back at it on the video poker. I played some more deuces wild, and some more bonus poker. I got to play a while but when it came down to the end, the casino won again. It’s kind of been the theme on this trip.

Now it’s starting to get late and I’m tired of losing so I went to the ice cream shop in the casino and ordered a triple scoop. Based on the baby serving I got when I ordered a double at NYNY last week, I went and ordered a triple. What a mistake this was. I think they gave me about a quart of ice cream with this order. Not only that but it was about half the price I paid at NYNY last week too. It’s things like this that remind me why I stay at the locals places more often than the strip tourist traps.

It’s now about 1am. I’m stuffed from eating the entire container of ice cream I ordered and my eyes are killing me at this point from the smoke in the casino and staring at video poker monitors all day. I’m going to bed.

Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total comps for the day $107
