Day 15
Wednesday December 26, 2001
After sleeping almost 10 hours I jumped up and started getting ready. I hadn’t planned on sleeping so many hours this morning but I feel quite a bit better now. Today’s plan is to visit more locals’ casinos. I also need to make a quick stop at the Laundromat to drop off my clothes.
I went up to Henderson to drop off the laundry and then thought I’d head up to Boulder City. I had never been to the Hacienda up there and I thought if traffic allowed I would go up to thew Hoover Dam too. I made my way to the casino but traffic was a parking lot about a mile before the casino so I skipped going to the dam. The Hacienda is a nice smaller casino but they really have nothing to offer.
From the Hacienda I went back to Henderson and made a quick stop at Railroad Pass. This is a smaller locals’ casino too. Low limits are the name of the game here with $2 blackjack and quarter craps.
After a quick walk through here I went back down to the strip area and went to the Hard Rock to get some chips. I also played some craps here. I did pretty well here and played for about 3 hours. I was up about $250 at one point but gave most of it back. I did cash out slightly ahead, but not by much.
After I left the Hard Rock I went over to the Silverton to meet my friend Anne. We ate at the Fireside Café. I had a chicken fried steak. The meal was pretty good and the service wasn’t bad either. After eating we played blackjack. My luck with this game so far this trip has been miserable so I was playing much lower limits than I normally do. Things were up and down here and then there was a short period where the cards were running well. I bumped my bets up and got ahead some but ended up giving that back and quitting even.
I got back to Sam’s pretty late but decided to go downstairs to the bowling alley for a while. I liked bowling late at night. The place was a little quieter than normal other than a few rowdy people. They were ok though, just having fun. I finally decided to call it a night around 2am and go to bed.
