Day 2
Friday December 18, 2009

As planned we were up bright and early. Getting up this early will certainly require a nap later today! Once we got everything caught up that we didn’t do yesterday it was time to head downstairs.

When we got to the casino I could not believe how dead it was. There was not a noise to be heard, not even the overhead music was on. I’ve seen slow casinos before but this was SLOW. We started off with breakfast at the Red Cup Café. I had corned beef hash and was warned by the waitress it wasn’t the canned stuff. She was right as it was actual slices of corned beef and potatoes; over top of hash browns (overkill) with 2 eggs. The food was tasty. Dee had an omelet and said that was good too. The prices aren’t too bad here but they aren’t exactly cheap either. I used room charge so this could be taken out of our $50 resort credit.

I had $15 in free play and thought it would be fun to play the new Gold Fish Reel Slots. These are quite different from the video version and the bonus rounds are all different. I had decent luck running my $15 into $30 then cashing out at $20 after about an hour of play. Dee on the other hand was on fire and had some huge bonus rounds.

Next we tried the triple play video poker machines we played last night. I just couldn’t get anything going and the dealt hand were far and few. I hit a few quads but there weren’t enough to offset the lack of dealt winners. I ended up dumping $200 here. Dee lost a little bit too and even took a break to go play some penny slots while I was still pounding away at VP.

After playing we took a short break in the room and gathered a few things to take out for the day. We had to go over to the Silverton to check in. We won’t be spending the night here but I booked an offer they sent me that offered 3 nights (I booked 2), $75 in free play, and $25 in dining credit. It also offered 2 concert tickets but there wasn’t a concert during this stay. Check in here is always fast and easy and in just a few minutes we were on our way to room 1092. This room has a king bed, work desk, TV cabinet/dresser, and small sitting area with love seat. They’ve also added a coffee table since the last time we stayed here. The bathroom is tiny but functional. I mainly booked this room for the extras that came with it but we also booked it so we could go to the hot tub they have outside. We like that the pool area to the room is never more than just a few steps. We were actually lucky that the room we got was on the first floor right next to the door that leads to the pool area.

After checking in we hit the casino. Today they offer 5X points on slots and 2X points on video poker. First stop was to the slot club to activate me $75 in free play and then it was off to the video poker machines. I tried my luck with the 10-play machines. This is one of my favorite games to play but can be streaky. Today was no exception. I lacked the dealt hands you need to be a winner and couldn’t seem to draw anything great. I only ran about $2500 coin in before dropping $300.

Next up we both played a variety of penny slots. I hot for about $35 on one game. Then I played the new Joker’s Wild slots. These are based on the original game show but they really have very little to do wit the show. I was getting killed and on one of my last spins hit the bonus round. His round has 5 different tiers and I was lucky enough to hit 3 of them for $10, $31 and $140. This was a nice way to end up and I won over $90 playing this game. Dee also had a few nice hits on the games she was playing.

We took a break from the casino and went and changed and hit the hot tub for a short while. This was nice and the water was nice and warm and the weather wasn’t too bad out so it was enjoyable.

We got cleaned up after the hot tub and hit the Sundance Grill for dinner. I had the BBQ bacon burger with fries. The service was great here tonight and our waiter was friendly. We topped off dinner with dessert. I had a huge slice of chocolate cake. We also played a few games of Keno while we ate but didn’t hit anything to be in the money.

Dinner was tasty tonight and afterwards it was time to play. I found my favorite machine in the high limits room and began to pound away. Things were choppy here. The dealt winners were lacking again early on but then picked up. I was able to land quite a few quads including 1 set of aces. I also got 1 dealt full house. I ended up winning $100 for the session and was pleased with that result considering how tough things were early on.

It was getting late now so we headed back over to M. When we got back we just chilled out in the room for a while. We both agreed we ate way too much and it was slowing us down! After some much needed break time it was off to the casino again.

We hit the triple plays again trying for the progressive. I was just dying from bill to bill by not getting any dealt winners and I only hit one quad. I dropped $200 and for a change of pace switched to a short pay deuces game. I got a bit of play out of this $100 but a lack of dealt deuces was killer. I only had 2 hands the whole time where I had more than 1 deuce dealt to me. Dee on the other hand did quite well on the jacks tonight.

After getting killed at video poker we played a variety of penny slots again, and once again they saved me from a terrible day. I hit one machine for multiple bonus rounds and also quite a few hits for over 7500 coins. One spin I hit for almost 12,000 coins. Shortly after this hit I cashed out with a $200 win. I can’t believe how well I do on these stupid penny games but a game that uses some skill like video poker I can’t seem to hit anything.

It was about 10pm and since we have been up since before 5am with no nap time it was time to get upstairs and time for sleep!

Total win/loss for the day -$350
Total comps for the day $395
