Day 4
Sunday December 20, 2009

Today we have tickets to see the TV Game Show Let’s Make a Deal down at the Tropicana. Dee thought it would be fun to dress up and possibly be contestants on the show. She chose to be the tooth fairy & I was going to be the evil villain, a Cavity! My costume was made up of a black shirt and black pants with lollipops and gummy worms attached to it, and holes in the shirt to simulate tooth decay!

Once we were dressed we headed out to the Tropicana where the events began. They suggested on the tickets and fine print to allow 4-5 hours. We had tickets for the 11am taping and doors opened at 10am. Unfortunately while we were in line we were informed the show was cancelled and they wouldn’t be doing any tapings until the 28th. This was a bummer as I was really looking forward to it.

Since there was no show we headed back to Bally’s to change and get something to eat. We went to the Sidewalk Café here at Bally’s. I had the All American Breakfast which is 2 eggs, 2 toast, 2 pancakes or French toast, meat & hash browns. I went with scrambled eggs, French Toast & Sausage Dee had the same but with pancakes and over easy eggs. This was way too much food to eat. The bill was about $30 ( and unacceptable for breakfast, welcome to the strip) and Dee used her comps to cover the bill and we were off.

From Bally’s we were off to the Cannery to play some match play coupons and to play a little video poker. Dee likes this place because it was where she hit her first royal back in the summer and I’ve been a fan since it opened because of their decent video poker and great promotions.

The first stop was roulette to play some match plays. Dee played odd and won on her spin. I played black and lost so we were 1 for 2 on match plays.

For video poker chose some 8/5 bonus tripe play machines and things were horrible for me. I was feeding in bill after bill and didn’t hit a quad for about the first $400 I fed into the machine. Dee on the other hand was on fire and was hitting quads one after another including bonus quads and dealt quads, as well dealt flushes and full houses one after another. Dee was still doing well and threw in the towel after being down over $800. I went to the slot club and cashed in my points for some gift cards and then hit the penny slots. I sat at a Monopoly Real Estate Tycoon machine. This machine was pretty nice to me and I was hitting some nice pays and bonus rounds. I was about to quit and took a shot with a few max bet spins and hit a bonus round. This was a great round and every roll of the dice I hit railroad which gave a bonus within the bonus and maxed out on each of those. I eventually had a 3X multiplier and landed on Park Place for a 22,500 coin hit on top of the others for a 40,500 coin hit. I cashed out of this machine after this hit and walked with a win of over $400. This really eased some of the pain.

Dee had given up on video poker at this point with a win and we cashed in her points for more gift cards. Between her wins, and the gift cards we still lost but it wasn’t a terrible day over all.

My long time friend Gary (formerly VG Vegas from Las Vegas Talk many moons ago) just moved to a new apartment with his girlfriend and was having an “apartment warming” party so we went over there to visit them for a while. I haven’ seen Gary in quite some time and it was fun getting to see him and telling stories from the old days.

When we left Gary’s we saw a sign at the Gold Coast offering 5X points on video poker and 9X points on slots. I pulled in and we also had a bunch of match play coupons to use and I needed to get my birthday bonus as well. We started off with roulette to play some coupons. Dee played her standard odd and lost. I didn’t like the table we were on as the dealer was totally clueless. I went to the next table and played mine on black. 17 came up and I was a winner. We were now 2 for 4 on match plays.

Next we played a variety of penny slots. These things weren’t nice to me tonight and I was dropping money into every one I played wit few hits. Dee won a little bit though. I gave up on the slots and hit the video poker machines and Dee joined me. I played 5 play and she played triple play. She was holding her on but then got beat up. I was doing well and hitting quads and getting plenty of dealt winners. I hit a few bonus quads and aces twice. Oddly both times I hit aces were on card holds. I cashed out of this machine with a nice win and a total of $200 at Gold Coast to off set the slot losses too.

We were ready to eat now so went to the Noodle Exchange. There was a waiting list so while we were waiting I swiped my card at the kiosk for my birthday bonus. I chose the lowest gift on there that was for 5000 points.

We were finally called and seated at the Noodle Exchange. We’ve been here before and really like the food here. I went with a mandarin pork ramen which is a noodle soup with 2 pork chops in it. It’s tasty but different with breaded pork chops floating in it. Dee also had a noodle soup and both were tasty.

On the way out we hit the roulette tables again for a few more match plays. Dee played odd and lost when 8 came up. I played mine on black and 8 came up again so I was a winner. We were now 3 for 6 on coupons.

When we were done playing at the Gold Coast we came back here to Bally’s. We stopped at the front desk to settle her account tonight as opposed to doing it in the morning when everyone else was checking out. We applied her reward credits to the bill (we owed for the room service).

When we got back to the room Dee wanted to read her book so I went out. I walked over to Paris to see if Ned the dealer was around and they had him stuck on Casino War. What a waste of talent it is to have this guy on a worthless game like this. We talked for a while and got caught up before he went on break.

From here I walked over to Planet Hollywood so I could use a $25 match play from their fun book that I scored in a trade. I played it on black and 30 – red came up as my 25 went down the drain. This put us at 3 for 7 on coupons.

I left Planet Hollywood and walked over to Bill’s to try some match play. I got onto a blackjack table and landed a 20 but the dealer go one too. On the next hand I was dealt a 9 against a dealer 3. I doubled down and the dealer flipped over a 13 and dropped an effing 8 on it. I got up and left and never saw my down card. No matter what I had I couldn’t win or push. We’re now 3 for 8 with match plays.

I went to the other side of the casino to another pit and played another coupon. This time I was dealt an 11 against a dealer 10. I doubled down again and as luck could have it drew an ace for another $20 loss and taking us to 3 for 9 with coupons. This was painful as we were now down $45 playing coupons.

I came back to the room after the 3 straight losses on coupons and that’s where we are right now as Dee is in bed sleeping!

Total win/loss for the day -$300
Total comps for the day $237
