Day 5
Monday December 21, 2009

Today is moving day again. Ugh, these 2 night stays are a real drag. A special thanks to Dee for doing all of the packing this morning so I didn’t have to.

We left Bally’s and it was a straight shot down to the Laughlin area. The ride was smooth and we made a quick stop in Searchlight to grab a snack then made the rest of the trek to Laughlin.

The next 3 days will be more tranquil and relaxed compared to the last 4 we had in Las Vegas. I usually stay at Harrah’s when I come down here but the removal of all of their decent video poker forced us to take our play elsewhere. During the summer trip we gave a little bit of action to a few casinos and the Aquarius came through with some nice offers. I got an offer for 4 nights (booked 3) and $100 in free play. Dee got an offer for 3 nights and $50 in free play. We booked both of these (again, if the casino would honor the free play without booking a room, we wouldn’t have to do this). Dee also has a voucher for $100 in free play from the last trip when she signed up for a player’s card as well as a voucher for 2 free dinner buffets.

Things were slow in Laughlin and check in didn’t take more than a few minutes. I was assigned room 14121 and Dee was assigned room 8091. We chose to stay in 14121 for the better views. Both rooms were identical wit a king bed, nightstands, table and chairs, sitting chair and ottoman, and dresser with a 32 inch flat screen TV. The bathroom is small but well designed. We have a view of the river and Edgewater right next door. We can also see all of the way up to Harrah’s and everything in between.

The first stop was the slot club so Dee could activate her free play from the summer trip then it was off to the machines for some video poker action! The guy at the slot club was super friendly. Since their buffet was closed for renovations they even exchanged Dee’s buffet comp for a café comp with a $26 value on it. We both thought that was good service and the way to take care of a player.

Once we got our things to the room we decided to hit the outlet mall across the street and one of our favorite stores Burke’s Outlet. We got a few deals in here and came back over to the Aquarius for dinner. The plan was to use Dee’s comp at the café. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and Dee got the Chicken Parmesan. Mine was tasty and Dee’s was a huge portion of chicken and pasta and a great value for the price. The waitress was a bit out there but really friendly. She came to us and said we were lucky today because our bill got mixed up with another person’s who had a full comp and his bill was cheaper. This changed things up so instead of using Dee’s $26 comp slip I paid with my comp dollars that were still in my account from last trip and we saved Dee’s comp for tomorrow.

Once we were done with dinner we hit the video poker machines. We played some triple play video poker and used our free play. I had $100 and Dee had $150. We got quite a bit of play out of the free play but I went into a quadless period. I was starting to feed in bill after bill while Dee held her own again. I switched to ten play to hopefully catch a few hands and eventually hit aces and to a dealt full house. After this I switched back to triple play and on my first hand hit aces again. Things got better for a while and I was hitting quads often and even hit a straight flush to the king (the most painful hand of all). In total I ran over 16k through the machines tonight and even won a few bucks. Dee did about 8k and lost a bit. She however took a little $2.50 ticket and played it in a penny machine and won back everything she lost of video poker. Once again penny slots came to the rescue.

It was getting late so we packed it in and went upstairs to wind down and go to bed.

Total win/loss for the day $50
Total comps for the day $342
