Day 8
Thursday December 24, 2009

This morning we started our day with a room service breakfast. I went with blueberry pancakes and Dee had the Western Omelet. The prices for room service were fairly cheap compared to the café. The food was good and still nice and hot when it arrived.

Before we headed out we stopped off at the slot club to collect our cash back. I got $69 and Dee got $27. Mine was much higher because I played more than she did a few nights and also because she started playing on my card on the last day.

Today is not only Christmas Eve, it’s moving day. Once we got packed up it time to head out of Laughlin and back to Las Vegas. When we got back to town we headed over to the Las Vegas Hilton where our next 5 nights will be. I got a mail offer good for 4 nights, $25 in cash, $25 in bonus comps if I earn $45 and 2 free tickets to Barry Manilow. I booked a 5th night at casino rate of $49 so I wouldn’t have to move for just one night before our next longer move. I don’t usually like to pay for rooms but I figured I should be able to get this comped by the end of the trip and if not, it’s a small price to pay for not having to move.

I never really have much luck checking in here as the lines are usually fairly long and I don’t have a premium player’s card here like I do at the Harrah’s property. There wasn’t a line so we got right up to the desk. I asked for a complimentary upgrade for my birthday but the girl at the desk kept trying to sell me an upgrade. She really tried to make the classic room that was reserved sound like a dump and tried to get me to buy an upgrade to a better room. She was telling me things like these rooms haven’t been renovated, the beds are old, and the TV’s are the old style in a cabinet and so on. I declined and took what was reserved. We were assigned to room 623 in the Central Tower. This room has a king bed with nightstands, work desk, dining table, and dresser with flat screen TV. There is a view of the golf course. The bathroom is small and split into two rooms with the vanity outside and the toilet and tub inside. I had to laugh at how the check in girl was downplaying this room and when we got here it was as nice as the fully renovated room we had in the past. Other than the bed everything in this room was new.

It will be nice to settle in here for the next 5 nights and that’s exactly what we did. Once that was done it was time to have a snack for lunch and then we jut relaxed in the room for a while.

For dinner we headed off to Terrible’s. They have a few good promos going on today, we have match plays and it is a 5X point day.

On the way out we did some match plays. Dee played her odd and hit and I followed up with black and a win. This was a much needed win and brought us to 5 for 11 on match plays.

The first thing we did was turn in a coupon from the LVA book for a free fun book and T-shirt. NOTE: They’ve moved the slot club to the casino floor out of that tiny room it used to be in!

We stopped off at the roulette wheel to play some match plays again with our standard odd black combo and lost both of them bringing us to 5 for 13 on coupons.

From here it was up to the Bougainvillea Café. I had the lemon chicken off the Chinese menu and Dee got the Beef Lasagna. My food was excellent and Dee’s was enough to feed 4 people!

Next we played some video poker. I found a bank of triple plays that had jacks or better with 9/5 pay outs. The plan was to run just enough through the machines to qualify for a Wal-Mart gift card. I was getting killed so switched over to DDB hoping to hit a few quads or quads with a kicker. I was lucky and hit deuces with a kicker for $200 and got out of there even. Dee was up a little at first but then her machine clammed up and she lost about $70.

Before heading out we stopped off at the slot club to collect vouchers for a Wal-Mart gift card. The good thing about this promo is we got to keep the points we earned plus it was a 5X day.

We came back here to the Hilton to play some single line video poker in the Sportsbook Casino. Dee was holding up well and hitting quads and full houses. I was doing ok but my swings were horrible. I would go 15-20 hands with no winners and then hit a quad. I had the meter down to my final $5 three different times before going on a quad run hitting 4 quads in about 5 minutes. I cashed out even for the session.

Total win/loss for the day $100
Total comps for the day $204
