HAPPY NEW YEAR
Well today is another first. It’s the first time I’ve ever been in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day!

We started our day with the Main Street Station buffet. They had Sunday Brunch rules in effect today so there were lots of foods to choose from starting with breakfast items to dinner items. The food here is always pretty good and the dessert section is excellent. We ate way too much and rolled up to the room to grab a few things and then headed to the casino for some video poker action.

We tried the triple plays again and Dee got beat up badly again dropping 2 bills in short order. I had a little better luck although it was streaky. I played for a longer time and lost $100.

While I was playing Dee went to the lobby to check e-mail. I joined her and we looked up a few other things too. After contacting our friends it was back to the casino for some more video poker. This time we played single line jacks or better to help ease some of the swings. Dee went the whole session without a quad and lost yet again. I was going very well hitting only 2 quads but a lot of full houses. I sadly got many nice dealt winners and wished it had been a triple play machine! After being up over $80 I hit a dry spell and cashed out even.

We were both hungry now so hit the Market Street Café for dinner. Dee had the spaghetti again and I had my favorite hot turkey sandwich. We topped off dinner with dessert tonight too. I had a hot fudge sundae and Dee had carrot cake and we left stuffed!

After dinner it was back to the casino for more gaming action. Dee has wanted to play roulette for a few days and they had a 50 cent table here with a $3 minimum so we bought in. This was a fun table and we were hitting numbers often enough to stay even. There was one kid that was betting huge stacks of dollar chips on split numbers and then threw $20 on #4. I had a feeling he was going to hit so I threw a chip on it and sure enough the guy won $700 and I won $17.50! There was another guy betting rather large and one of his main numbers was 3. He took a break to go to the bathroom and I threw some chips on 3 and said to Dee, “He’s been betting 3 and bitching and moaning about how it’s not hitting, it’s guaranteed to come up while he’s gone.” Sure as shit, the ball landed in 3 and I collected my 105 chips. I told Dee he was going to be irate when he gets back. When he got back and saw 3 on the scoreboard he was not happy and says “Three? You’re fucking kidding me right? I don’t fucking believe it!” A new dealer came to the table and asked how everyone was doing and Dee blurts out great except for that guy pointing at the guy that missed out on number 3. While we were playing someone lifted one of Dee’s pink chips. The floor man thought he saw it happen and Dee heard them discussing it in the pit. They even called security to verify it. They never said anything to Dee as I’m’ guessing her chip would have lost anyway. We played here for over 2 hours. I ended up hitting a dry spell and dropped $50 but Dee caught a hot spell and only lost $8. That was a great bit of bankroll preservation for Dee since she’d been getting her butt kicked on video poker for the past few days.

After we cashed out at roulette we hit the single line jacks machines again. I was having a brutal time and was down with no hand better than 2 pair. Eventually I had a mini comeback hitting a few bigger hands but no quads. Dee got her butt kicked yet again and lost with out hitting a quad again this session. I am really feeling bad about how her luck has changed this trip. She was going to go play her favorite nickel slot and I continued to play my machine. That’s when I held king, queen and 10 of hearts and up popped jack and 9. UGH! A king high straight flush for the third time this trip. I got my scratch card and went and caught up with Dee at her slot and showed her my ticket for a $25 win. She got lots of play at this machine but lost and decided to go to bed.

I played a bit longer on multi line video poker. I popped a bunch of quads but cashed out even after a short session. On the way to the room I stopped off at a DaVinci Diamonds penny slot, made a few quick hits and walked away with a $10 win before heading up to bed and calling it a night.

Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total comps for the day $180
