Day 18
Sunday January 3, 2010

Today we had a busy day planned. First up we dropped off laundry one more time for fluff and fold service. On the way there was an accident on 95 so I decided instead of sitting in traffic I’d take surface streets. I took a wrong turn and we ended up in a totally different area than I expected so we turned it into a Sunday drive of sorts going up the mountain towards Lake Mead. I turned around at the toll booth and we headed back towards Henderson.

We also had a reservation out at Fiesta Henderson today. This is just a one night stay and normally I wouldn’t have booked this but we like to play there and I figured we’d be hitting the Laundromat today too so I booked it. The offer was good for 1 night, $25 free play, and $15 food credit. I normally wouldn’t take a room offer this weak but we were going to be in the area anyway so I figured for the 3 minutes it would take to check in it wasn’t a big deal. I also don’t play here like I used to so I’m not worried about short playing.

Checking in here usually takes a total of about 3 minutes and today was no exception. We were given room 7113. The great thing about this place is the hotel is small and from check in to room is about a 2 minute trip. This used to be one of my favorite places to play and stay but over the years Stations has taken away many of the reasons I used to like it so much. Dee also likes it here but has never seen the rooms so this will be a good chance for her to see if she’d ever like to stay here in the future. For anyone keeping score, yes, we are now registered to 3 hotels at the same time!

Before we even checked the room we hit Denny’s to use the food credit that came with the room. Normally I wouldn’t grace Denny’s with my presence in Las Vegas, especially at the Fiesta because it replaced my favorite casino café and was the demise of my favorite meal, the Feel Good Soup. We both had the grand slam breakfast. The food was fine but I still missed the Baja beach Café!

After breakfast we checked out the room. This room has a king bed with nightstands, a dresser, TV, dining table and chairs with a view of the pool. The bathrooms are a decent size with a large counter, toilet and shower/tub.

On the way out we played my $25 free play on the same DaVinci diamonds machine I won on Christmas night. Today the machine wasn’t nearly as friendly and I was able to turn my $25 in free play into $11 cash and ran away from the Fiesta!

From here it was off to the Cannery for one last visit. We hit our usual 8/5 bonus machines hoping to score another royal here. Between us this is one of the luckier casinos when it comes to hitting royals as I’ve scored quite a few here and Dee has scored her one and only royal here. Things were good here for me and I was hitting quite a few quads. Dee hit aces early on but ended up losing for the session as other quads were sparse.

When we were done playing we stopped off at the slot club to cash in some point for gift cards and then we were on our way. They had signs up all over the place stating 599 points for gift cards limit 8 per day so we played to max this out, or so I thought. When we got to the booth the boothling told us we only played enough for 2 cards and that the signs posted were for the new club that was starting at midnight. I told her nothing on any sign stated a date or a time for this, there were numerous signs posted in the casino and it was also listed on the website. I felt it was deceptive and unfair. I wasn’t happy with this answer and spoke to the manager of the slot club who agreed with me 100% but said she had no power to do anything and that I could contact the marketing manager and gave me her card and e-mail address.

After the Cannery we went back to Main Street Station. For dinner we went over to the California coffee shop for dinner. Tonight one of the specials was meatloaf and we both ordered that. The food came out in what had to be record time. Seriously, it was like 2 minutes. When we were done with dinner here we walked through Fremont Street so Dee could pick up a few items for the folks back home and then over to the Four Queens.

At the Four Queens we hit Magnolia’s Veranda for dessert and coffee when we were done shopping. I had chocolate cake and ice cream and Dee got Carrot cake. We charged it to the room so we could use part of the $20 per day we had with the room offer I took.

Back over to Main Street Station we went after dessert and hit the video poker machines. Dee scored aces and other quads as well as dealt winners right away. I was hovering around the even mark for the most part. We got quite a bit of play for our money tonight and hit numerous quads. I even scored with 2 straight flushes tonight and a set of aces of my own. We both cashed out winners here and then played some penny slots for a little fun before going to bed.

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total comps for the day $205
