Day 9
Wednesday June 30, 2010

We slept in until about 8:30 today and then got ready to hit the pool. We haven't had much pool time this trip so wanted to go chill up there before it got too hot. We were there by 9:30 and stayed until 10:30.

After pool time we came up to the room and ordered room service for breakfast to avoid the long waits at the cafe and to save time. We got cleaned up while we waited for the food to arrive. Dee ordered the western omelet and I went with the blueberry pancakes and bacon. They said it would be a 30 minute wait but 15 minutes later there was a knock on the door. The food was great and we watched TV and the activity going on down on the river. This was living!

When we were done eating it was time to hit the casino. In the casino we hit the VP machines again. Dee had $75 in free play from her mailer and $35 free play from our host for her birthday so we played a session on her card today. We started off with the triple play video poker machines. I thought we'd take it easy and stay away from the ten plays to preserve a little bankroll. Dee was doing very well hitting lots of quads and getting dealt winners. One key hand she did get that was interesting though was being dealt trip sevens and she pulled the 4th seven on all 3 lines. I believe that's about a 13000 to 1 shot. I was hovering even most of the session but then was getting beat up before I was once again dealt aces. We each cashed out up about $100 for a nice win.

We decided to take a walk along the river walk up to the Golden Nugget. While we were here we played a few games of Keno so we could sit and cool off. I also went over to the slot booth to get cards since I left mine at the hotel. While there I found they had the wrong mailing address and they corrected that. It's been a long time since I've seen mail from this place and now I know why.

I grabbed a soda at the snack bar using comp dollars that were in my account from the last visit and then we went to play some roulette. We each bought in for $50 and I had no luck but Dee hit a few numbers. I bought in for another $20 and lost that without any hit as well. Dee hit a few more and cashed out. In total we dropped $30 here.

Next up we played a variety of penny slots. Nothing major was happening here and bonus rounds were not hitting. When they did we didn't get anything huge. Between us we dropped $200. I wanted to play some blackjack and Dee went in search of more slots. The blackjack table was a double deck game and I was doing well here. I started off playing just one hand and progressed my bets when I won. The dealer was breaking often enough and I was beating him on points when he didn't. He left for break and a new dealer came in and then they changed the cards and things went to hell. I went from being up $300 to being up just $100 and quit before I lost all of the gains. I caught up with Dee and she had dropped about $40 more dollars.

We were hungry again so hit the cafe here called Harlow's. Dee got the spaghetti and meatballs blue plate special. It was $5.99 and came with Texas toast. The serving was weak and I wouldn't recommend ordering this one although Dee said it was good. I had the t-bone special that comes with mashed potatoes, vegetables, a dinner roll and a salad. This was a much better choice for the price of $5.99. While we were eating we played our numbers at Keno again and had 2 wins to get all of the money back.

We left the Golden Nugget after eating and headed back to the Aquarius. We hit the VP machines again. Dee as usual held her own. I was feeding in bills once again. One the last bill I took a shot at DDB 10 play and in just a few hands was dealt three 4's and hit quad 4's for $100 on line 10. I switched back to triple play bonus and bounced between that and five play but eventually lost $300 while Dee broke even yet again. If it weren't for her breaking even all of these times the bankroll would have taken some huge hits.

We took a break from VP and played a variety of penny slots again. I had a decent run on one of the newer Goldfish machines with a few nice bonus rounds but in the end cashed out even. Dee was getting beat up a bit on the penny games today. Dee lost just over $100 on them tonight and I only lost $40. We did play quite a while though.

After slots we returned to video poker. I looked over and Dee was getting her ass kicked at triple play which was something new. I took a shot playing ten play and things started out well. I was hitting quads and getting quite a few dealt winners. Nothing was huge but enough to be ahead between $50 & $100 most of the time. I eventually hit a set of aces and then a few dealt flushes and a full house put me ahead along with a couple of hands where I drew multiple quads. Dee made a huge comeback hitting 3 quads and 2 dealt full house in a few minutes. We were missing royals by one card numerous times and it was getting old. Old until I scored my second royal and our third of the trip on line 5 for another $1000. I cashed out this ticket at $1600 for a $1400 win and fed in a fresh $200 so I wouldn't end up blowing the royal and other profits. Things continued to be good for me and I once again got the credit meter up over $500 again. I was going to play down to $300 and Dee was once again going to cash out even. I hit a really bad streak with multiple hands with no pay off so I cashed out at $400 for an additional $200 win. Dee did manage to break even yet again. All in all I won $1600 during this session bringing us back into positive territory for the trip.

Just for fun after cashing out at video poker we fed a $63 ticket into a higher limit multi-line slot. This was a quarter game that normally we would play for pennies hoping we could score a bonus round. We got some decent amount of play out of the $63 considering it was $12.50 per spin.

I hit the cage to cash in my tickets and we came back up here to the room and ordered room service for a late night snack. Dee had the Ruben and I had chicken fingers. The food arrived early but they forgot to bring the sauces. The food was still good and room service here is reasonably priced.

Once we were done eating we just rested and watched TV until it was bedtime. What started out as a rough day ended up being pretty damn good!

Total win/loss for the day $1050
Total comps for the day $485
