Day 11
Friday July 2, 2010

Today is a sad day as we have to leave Laughlin and this great suite. Each time I come down here I enjoy it more and more. I find that odd as in the past anything more than 2-3 days was more than enough here and that there's not nearly the variety and action here that Las Vegas offers. Ugh, am I getting old? Say it ain't so!

Today started out exactly as it did yesterday with the fire alarm going off. The only difference this time was it went off at 4:44am. Once again it woke me up out of a dead sleep and scared the shit out of us. We went back to bed and slept in until 8:30 and went to the pool for about a half an hour.

After we baked for a while we came back up here and ordered room service for breakfast while we continued getting ready. Dee had the western omelet and I had the ham & cheese omelet. The food arrived pretty quickly and was tasty.

Once we were ready we called bell services and then hit the slot club. I wanted to cash out my points and got $85. I also got my point balance of the points that can be used towards a gift out of the catalog because for June they did a promo called gifts worth getting where you earned points towards prize levels and then got to keep your points so the gift was gravy. We had over 23,000 points and when we get home we'll order a gift online. (Added after the return home: We ordered a Delongi Toaster Over and a Weather.com wall thermometer)From here it was off to VIP check in to check out and settle up our charges. Our host was off so a different host took the charges off using our comp dollars. I wasn't thrilled with this as our host said she'd be able to comp off charges without using them.

From VIP we fetched the car and pulled into the valet area and had bell service bring out our luggage and we were off. With a quick stop at the Riverside for Dee to grab a watch from the watchman that she wanted the other day but didn't get. NOTE: The prices at this place have gone up!

The ride back to Vegas was quick and we made it back to Las Vegas in near record time. We arrived at Main Street Station which would become our home for the next 5 nights. Even though we both enjoy Main Street Station this is certainly going to be a downgrade from the Aquarius. This reservation was booked with my July mailer which offered 4 nights, $75 free play and a food coupon book (The Hawaiian Package). I had a host add another night and finally got upgraded back to a silver card for this stay. I like having this card for the convenience of being able to eat anything, anywhere as opposed to the limited options the Hawaiian Book offers. I also requested a high floor, low odd number so we could be as far away from the train as possible and have a semi decent view of the strip. This was granted and we were assigned to room 1101 in just minutes as check in here is always fast and easy. The only problem was the room wasn't ready yet and the girl said it would be about an hour.

To kill some time we hit the internet area at Main Street to check our e-mail and look up a few things. While we were doing that I noticed the sign for the players club showed their top tier was now 250,000 points. This was an increase of 50,000 to what I thought it was and bothered me a bit as we were close to the 200,000 that was required. I do know that out of towners that have a downtown property as their home casino have different set of rules though. To see where we actually stood I logged into the website and saw I was listed as Emerald and my tier score was 100,000 points higher than it originally was last time I looked. I thought maybe it was an error so I went to the booth and had y free play added and new cards made and sure enough I was Emerald! Whoo hoo. Later I found out there had been changes made to the club and some older play was credited and my slot play was worth twice as much.

The room was ready now so we grabbed the car and unloaded our things on the curb and had the bellman bring it all up. I valet parked the car on the other side of the property and then it was off tot he room. The rooms here are all the same and this room has 1 king bed, night stands, 2 arm chairs and a round table, work desk, fridge, and TV cabinet/dresser combo with a 19 inch TV. The bathrooms are sparse with the vanity outside the bathroom with a shower and toilet.

Once we got settled into the room it was off to the Cal and the Market Street Cafe for dinner. Dee had spaghetti and salad and I had my favorite hot turkey sandwich. While we were eating we saw a girl coming and going to the salad bar for refills. This would have been fine except that she kept using the same plate. Now I can't really blame her as she was just a kid and probably didn't know better. However, I'd expect her mother to know better and not allow this to happen, as it's disgusting and not allowed. Back to the food and service though. This is one place where there has always been consistency with the food and service and everything was good and tasty. We settled up the bill with the silver card!

Next it was back to the casino to our favorite triple play machines. There's not much to report here other than they were tough. We both dropped $200 and hit 8 quads between us. It's not what I would call a good way to start things off at Main Street Station especially when you consider we didn't play very long.

We took a break after this and ended up sleeping for about an hour. This nap was sure to keep me up all night long now. Not sure how Dee was going to do though as she is quite the sleeper! We hit the casino after nap time. There was someone playing the machines we like so we played over at a different bank. On this bank Dee played super times pay with a crappy pay table and I played 8/5 bonus triple play on my machine. Dee did well over here and hit a few things with multipliers. I wasn't hitting much of anything and dropped $50 at this machine. Dee got away even and we moved to our other bank of machines. Things here were choppy for me. I was down to my last few bets and came all of the way back and then back down multiple times. Dee on the other hand was on fire hitting quad after quad after quad, including dealt nines and a set of aces. I hit a total of 4 the whole time. In total we played for about three hours and Dee came out up by $50 and I dropped yet another $200. This wasn't a good thing to be dropping so much today but once again Dee saved us from being killed. We also scored 33 scratch cards and all were worth $2 except for one that was for $3 and one that was $1. This was because one of the floor people though Dee was playing nickels and gave her the wrong card. Of the 33 quads we hit tonight, only 10 were mine and the rest were Dee's.

It was now 1am and we were starving so hit the Triple 7 Brewpub for a late night meal. I had my favorite filet mignon sandwich with French fries and Dee had a Portobello sandwich and fries. The food was good like it always is here. I can't recall ever getting a bad meal here.

We finally got to bed at about 2am after a long day.

Total win/loss for the day -$450
Total comps for the day $266
