Day 12
Saturday July 3, 2010

We slept in until about 9am this morning after catching up from last night’s late night. The best part was not getting woken up by a fire alarm at 5am! Once we got motivated we got ready and headed out to Springs Preserve. Dee has wanted to go here for a long time and we're finally doing it. The best part is today is free admission if you have a Bank of America ATM or credit card. This was a savings of $38 for the 2 of us. There’s a lot to see and do here and it can be very educational for the kids. They show everything from the settling of the Las Vegas area to how the springs were formed and more. There is even a video game arcade with educational games. They have a few animals and a large garden area. As always there's also a gift shop and a Wolf Gang Puck restaurant. We spent a few hours here and had a good time.

When we got back to Main Street Station we went over to the Cal to their snack bar for a quick lunch to go. Dee got a chili dog & juice and I got a cheese dog with iced tea and ate up in the room. We didn't want to eat a lot because we had dinner plans later tonight. This did the trick and then we took naps. I didn't think I was so tired but the sun must have really kicked my ass this afternoon at the Preserve. Nap time took us right up until it was time to get ready for dinner.

For dinner tonight we had plans to meet our friends Anne, Steve, Jason, Terry and Stacy along with a few others for dinner at Viva Mercados out on Spring Mountain and Rainbow. The food here is good and the prices are decent. I also scored a $5 off coupon on their website last week. I had the beef tacos and Dee got the chicken enchilada. As always Anne had to try to make me the focal point and told our server Dee and I jut got married and tried to get the singer to sing and make a scene. I caught Stacy trying to make that happen and put a stop to it. All we got stuck doing was posing for a picture and we got free Churros. The food was good as it always is and we had a good time visiting with our friends.

We came back to Main Street Station after dinner and it was time to play more video poker. We hit the triple plays again and on her second hand Dee hit a straight flush. Sadly the machine was tough for her after that and in minutes the straight flush money was gone. I started off by using the $75 in free play that came with the room offer. I hit quad fours twice in a few hands and quite a few other quads. Dee hit a set of aces and another straight flush, but this time she dumped a junk hand and it popped up on the top line. I also hit a straight flush. We played for quite a while. I never had to hit the pocket and cashed out $100 and Dee cashed out up almost $100. The results were good but not great considering the number of bonus quads, aces, and straight flushes we hit. In total we got 17 scratch cards. 16 of them were for $2 and one was for $5.

Next up we played a variety of penny slots. I played a game I saw many people hitting on over the last 2 days and wanted to take a shot. Of course we all know what happened. Yup, I got killed. Dee also dropped her winnings but we cashed out even for the evening not counting the scratch cards.

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total comps for the day $179
