Day 13
Sunday July 4, 2010

Happy Independence Day to all of my American readers. Today we started our day with breakfast at buffet. It was Sunday Brunch and it was only $11 per person. The food here is always great. We took it easy today because last night we realized we were porking up! The best part of breakfast was the crazy old guy next to us calling people over and telling them that they shouldn't live to eat, but should eat to live and how he only eats enough to survive at each meal.

After breakfast we played VP. I took a shot at 5 play and Dee did triple play. I scored a quad on my first hand and then numerous others, including dumping a shit hand and scoring quad fours. Dee was in a quad drought and getting killed today. That's very unusual for her. My highlight was scoring my 3rd royal and our fourth for the trip on line 3 of my 5 play machine. Later on I scored a straight flush. For the session Dee dropped $300 and I won $1000 for a net of $700 plus between us got 15 scratch cards all for $2.

We decided to take a break after this great session and stopped by the slot club to have Ipo evaluate our play in order to comp the 5th night and extend my silver card for the last day. This was no problem as we had already run over $32,000 through the machines. From here we ran up to the room to grab the computer and came down here to the internet area at Main Street Station. That is where we are in this trip right now.

Next up we hit the casino again for more gaming action. We chose a variety of penny slots again. I was getting beaten up on the first machine and then moved to another game. I'm not even sure what it's called but I was getting some big hits on it and ended up cashing out for the afternoon with a $40 win. Dee dropped $40 so all in all we broke even.

For dinner tonight we went to the California to the Market Street Cafe. One of the specials tonight was meatloaf which is one of our favorite meals here. The service was slow here tonight and it was pretty busy. Once again some parent let a kid take a dirty plate up to the salad bar for a refill. Note to parents: GET A CLUE! The food here was great and we left full.

Next up it was back to Main Street Station for more video poker action. Dee took a shot on the 10-coin triple plays (the equivalent of a 50¢ machine. I played the standard 5 coin game. Dee hit a few quads right away including fours for $100 hit and got a bunch of full houses. I on the other hand got my ass kicked. I hit zero quads and typically went 5 or more hands in a row with no pay offs at all. I dropped $200 in under 30 minutes. Luckily Dee won $200 and we got out of there even plus 2 scratch cards for $2 each.

Not wanting to drop back the whole royal I hit earlier we stopped gambling for the day and took a walk down Fremont Street to see the sights. Nothing major seemed to be going on and oddly it wasn't very crowded for a holiday. On the way back to Main Street Station we stopped off at the California Snack bar to grab some beverages and then up to the bridge to Ethel M's chocolates for a snack. Their chocolates are really good but are really pricey. We got a total of 6 chocolates and the total was $12.50. The stuff is good but it's not THAT good.

Even though it was early we came up to the room to eat chocolate and chill out. We were also going to watch some of the fireworks from the room as we had a good view of the strip from this room. I'm not sure where the fireworks were shot off from but I heard that it was Mandalay Bay. From what we could see it looked like a decent show.

We were pretty much shot after this and called it a night even though it wasn't even 10pm. We figured we'd get up early tomorrow and have a good full day.

Total win/loss for the day $700
Total comps for the day $139
