Day 21
Monday July 12, 2010

We got an early start today for a change and walked down Imperial Palace for breakfast. Dee had another $25 coupon from her July mailer for Hash House a Go-Go so we went there for breakfast. Dee got the "basic" breakfast of 2 eggs, potatoes and a biscuit and fruit. I had the blueberry pecan pancake. The portions were a little more normal then they were for dinner last time we were here. The pancake was huge but it was only one giant pancake as opposed to a stack of smaller ones.

We went to the Venetian after breakfast to sign Dee up for a slot card. We also had the coupon from the American Casino Guide for $25 in free play for joining. We ran that through a penny slot. Dee got quite a bit of play out of it before it went away. Next we played a variety of penny slots. The plan here was to run enough through to get onto the mailing list and see what king of offers we'd get. I've read many reports that from people that say they ran very little through the machines and got room offers and free play offers so hopefully something will show up for the next trip we can use.

We walked back to Bally's to meet Las Vegas Norm at noon to hand off the Peepshow tickets we scored yesterday with my mailer coupon. We had a short visit with him and then it was onto the machines. We played some 7/5 bonus triple plays. The pay tables suck but a small amount of play to keep the freebies coming doesn't bother me too much. That is until I hit a full house! I started off with triple play on one machine and got killed in no time even after hitting a quad. I had no dealt winners other than jacks and lost $100. I moved to the machine on the other side and played 5 play. Over here the dealt winners were sparse but I was hitting quads and hit 2 straight flushes. The only problem with this machine is I would go 10-12 hands in a row without winning in between quads or good sized hits. Normally hitting 2 straight flushes and 6-7 quads would produce a winner but I lost another $100 on this machine. Dee on the other hand hovered as she always does. She hit a few quads and a straight flush and cashed out even. All this happened in about 1 hour's time so all in all it was not a great session.

We were hungry again at this point in the day so went to a small sandwich place here at Bally' called Nosh. The prices here are insane but I was using comp dollars to cover the bill. We ordered a 12" sub combo that comes with a side (Dee chose macaroni salad) and a soda for $13.99, highway robbery at its best. This place is like a high end Subway Sandwich with better meats and much larger sandwiches. The ball of fire working the sandwich making area was working so slow I thought he was moving backwards. I'm guessing we had about 6 people in front of us and it took him almost 25 minutes to finally complete our sandwich. Now keep in mind this isn't a regular sit down restaurant and all of the meats and cheeses are pre cut and portioned and all he's got to do is slice the bread open and insert the ingredients. We split the sandwich which was turkey, Swiss and bacon on parmesan bread. The sandwich was very good and while not worth quite the price being charged was pretty large and easily fed 2 of us.

We went to the room after this and took a break and watched TV and had a short nap. We wanted to be rested later on because we had a show we were going to and didn't want to be falling asleep during it.

Once we got up and got ready we left Bally’s and started walking towards New York - New York. A few months ago I had purchased Dee tickets to see Zumanity for her birthday. Originally I saw there was a $50 ticket special but I wasn't thrilled with the locations of those seats so I opted to spend a few more dollars and got front row balcony seats. These seats to me were about the best in the house. All of the aerial things took place close to eye level and the stage acts were easy to see. This is a smaller venue compared to the other Cirque shows I've been to and these seats were close enough to see their faces. I won't ruin the show but I will say it certainly has a lot of sexual overtones and the comedy routines between acts and in the pre show are filthy and there is use of the eff word among other choice words. There is also nudity with many of the girls showing their boobs! Now I'm not offended by any of this. In fact I liked it. I just wanted to warn those that might not like boobs or the eff word that there is plenty of it in this show. I thought the show was good and the talents and acts were excellent. I still don't know how these people can make their bodies do this stuff!

When the show was over we walked into Monte Carlo and took the monorail back down to Bellagio for something different. Just to warn anyone that things this is a faster way to get anywhere, it's not. By the time you walk to the back of the Monte Carlo, up a few flights of stairs, wait for the monorail to arrive, stop at Vdara/Crystals and finally get to Bellagio and walk back out to the strip, you might as well walk. However if you're already near the back of these properties it might be a time saver. For us I think it was close to an hour by the time we got back to the front of Bellagio and took over 45 minutes. This is the same reason why I won't use the other monorail and why the thing is such a failure.

When we got back to Bally's we walked over to Paris to have something to eat at Le Cafe. There was a good sized line waiting to get in but a flash of my diamond card got us seated in just a few minutes while the others continued to wait! We started off with the spring roll appetizer that consisted of 6 mini spring rolls. They were very tasty but weren't heated all of the way through. Dee had the Hong Kong ramen Noodle Soup that contained ramen noodles, spam and a fried egg in chicken broth. I had the Won Ton Noodle that was noodles and pork wontons in a broth. The server said it was chicken broth but my broth definitely had a fishy taste to it. It was ok other than that and the wontons were flavorful. For dessert Dee had the apple pie and ice cream and I had the chocolate raspberry. It was a mousse and flourless cake with raspberry filling covered with a dark chocolate coating and was very tasty.

After dinner we took a walk through the casino to see if Ned the dealer was working. We saw him at a 6-5 blackjack table and chatted with him for a few minutes. There was a guy sitting in one of the seats next to a friend (but not playing) and got up when we arrived to offer us his seat. I thanked him but said I don't play no 6-5 blackjack and neither should any of you. He agreed and that's hopefully why he wasn't playing. My history with Ned is nothing more than player and dealer and I go was back to his Fiesta Henderson days when I used to play a lot of craps up there with Yahtzee Mike. I try to stop in at Paris every trip to see him.

It was getting late now and we came back up to the room to relax. I filled up the Jacuzzi and we chilled for the rest of the night.

Total win/loss for the day -$400
Total comps for the day $225
