Day 5
Wednesday December 15, 2010

Today we finished packing up our things for today's move. Checking out was easy and we were off to the valet.

We made our first stop of the day at Panera Bread to check e-mails and get caught up with the folks back home. We also wanted to get a light breakfast here but at 10:30am breakfast is already over. WTF is up with that? Instead we both got the 1/2 sandwich and soup special. Once we were done with that we were on our way to the Tuscany again. Today was the last day of the gift card promo for the week and we wanted to take another shot at that. When we got there we hit the triple/five plays again. The results were great for Dee after she hit aces twice, quad 4's about 5 hands apart and numerous big dealt winners. I on the other and was getting killed and didn't get a dealt winner better than trips before I was down $150. Then I got dealt quad 6's but the fast drain continued. I had a semi come back towards the end but not enough to overcome the earlier losses. When it was all over Dee was up $400 and we walked out of there up $85 and we ended up with 5 Wal-Mart gift cards.

Today's move was to the Flamingo. I haven't stayed here in years and Dee has never stayed here. We booked this with no offer going through the Harrah's reservation system and booked 4 nights in a GO Luxury with View. When we arrived we used the Diamond check in. There was only a slight line at the main check in so it wasn't as fun as it could have been. Check in was quick and were assigned room 28052 on the top floor with a view of Bally's, Paris, Cosmopolitan, and the Bellagio. It's got a great view of the fountain show over there too. The room has a king bed with these cool desks on both sides of the bed as nightstands. There is a small couch near the windows for relaxing and viewing the strip and a neat entertainment center. It has a 42" TV and a stereo with surround sound. The room is done up in gaudy pinks, browns and whites. The curtains are also electric. The bathroom is a decent size with a frosted glass window and frosted glass sliding door. These don't allow for very much privacy so if you're with someone you're trying to impress and have to drop a deuce, they'll hear every move you make unless you blast the TV. The bathroom has a tub, glass shower and single sink vanity with a TV in the mirror. The light switch in the hallway operates 2 small lights in the bathroom as well that illuminates the room in pink.

Once we were settled into the room we went to the diamond lounge here at Flamingo. Neither of us had ever been here before so it was new for both of us. I'd say of all of the diamond lounges here in town that this one is the lamest. They did have a nice selection of veggies and dips and for hot food they had chicken wings and some sesame balls stuffed with black beans. They were odd but not too bad.

When we were done eating we hit the casino and some short pay video poker. We don't typically play as much here as at other properties because of the poor pay tables. We started off with 7/5 bonus triple play. These things gobbled up money like crazy at first. I'd like to say that it was the pay tables causing the bleed but when you don't hit any full houses, you can't blame the pay tables. I managed to pull out a quad and still dropped $100 in 15 minutes. Dee did the same. I switched over to double-double and dropped another $100 but Dee held steady. I tried one more bill and scored quad 4's (no kicker) and switched back to bonus. I played a bit longer hitting a few other quads and Dee got killed. This was a tough session and in under an hour she dropped $200 and I dropped $80 bringing us down $200 for the day so far. At this point I really can't believe the losing streak we've been on since we hit the 4 royals earlier in the trip. I am also thankful that we did it those though because if we hadn't we'd be down over 2 grand 5 days in.

After the ass pounding we took at video poker we decided it would be a good idea to go to the room and take a break and take advantage of the nice views we had. We watched way too many fountain shows and waited around to see if there was any fanfare over at the Cosmopolitan which was scheduled to open at 8pm but there wasn't.

Dee wasn't feeling well so called it a night early. I went out by myself to play for a while. I walked over to Bill's to play some penny games for fun but didn't do well on them. It seems that Harrah's has finally put the cabash on decent payouts here too. I also noticed as I was walking through the casino that ALL of the blackjack games pay 6-5 from the single decks, double decks and shoe games. A place that was once a good place for the low roller to get some decent gaming action is now a complete wasteland from top to bottom.

I came back over to the Flamingo to play a little blackjack. I found a double deck game with 3-2 pay outs. The dealer here was dealing himself blackjack after blackjack. It seemed that every time he had an ace up he flipped over a blackjack. I was able to ride it out for a while and got back to even but then one deck did me in. I lost $200 here and moved back to the crappy VP machines. Things were quite a bit better and I was switching from bonus triple, five and ten play to double - double triple, five and ten play. I wasn't getting many dealt winners but I hit a few straight flushes and quads including 2 sets of fours and a set of aces all without kickers. I cashed out the session up $300 and gave up for the night.

It was after midnight now and I was getting a bit hungry so thought I'd go over to the Burger Joint for the $3 burger and fried special but they were closed. The cafe was also closed so I decided not to eat a big meal and just came back to the room and had a cookie before bed.

Total win/loss for the day -$350
Total comps for the day $130
