Day 12
Wednesday December 22, 2010

We slept in until 9:30 today and the lounged around the room for a while. It was raining out again today and would be raining all day long. That eliminated pretty much any outdoor activity today so we figured we'd chill.

Once we finally got motivated we went to the Beach Cafe for breakfast/lunch. I got the hash and eggs and Dee got Joe's Scramble. The food was excellent and the service was good again with the server that we had yesterday.

We went to the high limits room for some $1 video poker action this morning. I didn't play but Dee played some bonus poker. She didn't hit any quads but hit a bunch of smaller stuff to keep going. She actually ran over $1000 through the machine and cashed out the session even.

Today's plan was to go down to the Aquarius and check in for a 3 night stay. We weren't actually going to stay here but I had an offer for some free nights and $200 in free play. You don't need to be staying in the hotel to get your free play here but I also got a birthday card from my host offering me an additional $50 in free play. I felt kind of dumb just calling her and asking for the free play so we booked the room for 2 nights as we planned on playing here anyway.

I have a green card here and that allows us to check in at the special VIP room. I like checking in here because they have snacks and drinks available. While we checked in our host came over to see us and we chatted for a bit. This is one of the few hosts I've ever used that actually knows how to host a player. She also informed us that she had brought us in with limited RFB and our cafe and buffet meals would be comped.

We were given room 11074 with a river view and a king bed. This room also has night stands, a desk/dining table and dresser and a coffee maker. There's a sitting chair and ottoman near the window. It also has 32" flat screen TV on the dresser. The bathroom is small and basic but serves the purpose, especially when you're not really staying here.

From here it was on to the casino to play. While we were playing we decided we'd move our crap out of Harrah's down here since we had meals comped already and the video poker is much better. We played quarter triple play and off the start we were doing well. We both hit bonus quads at the same time and various other quads. Dee snagged a set of aces (with kicker, ugh) and got a few dealt full houses. I started off with my $250 in free play and was hovering around even for quite a while before the bleed started to happen. Dee started to get drained as well. I hung in there a little longer than she did. She ended up dropping $100 and I cashed out $100 of my free play to be even between us for the session.

We went back up the hill to Harrah's to play one more session of video poker before grabbing our stuff. I hovered up around $50 for most of the session until about the last 5 minutes when I went into a downward spiral and dropped $100. Between last night's action and today's action I still hadn't hit a quad at the dollar level. Dee got lucky and hit a bonus quad early on and used that to play her session. She eventually got ground down and cashed out even. Between us we lost $100 for the session with 5 or 6 near misses on $4000 royals.

For a quick snack to hold us over until a late dinner we hit the diamond lounge. Today's offerings were a little weaker than yesterday's with no cold cuts but they did have some ham salad and hot soup along with cheese and crackers and a few dessert items. We watched the news here snacked and then went up to the room to gather our things.

Once we had everything it was off to the valet and back down to the Aquarius to unload our stuff and take a break. That's where we are right now in this report and I'm about to hit the bed for a bit.

After a short nap we went down to the casino and back to the triple plays. Things weren't as good here as they were this afternoon. I was lucky enough to hit aces and a straight flush but the VP gods weren't letting me have anything more. I even made a last ditch effort on 10 play double-double hoping for a quick quad with no luck. Dee had gotten blown out quickly too. She took a shot at single line dollars for a little while but she was no match for those either. I busted out shortly after she did and this session was not good to us at all.

Next up we took a few bucks and played stupid penny games for some fun. We did much better on these here than we were doing at Harrah's but I'm not surprised about that. We got quite a bit of play before taking a break for something to eat.

For a late dinner we went to Cafe Aquarius. It was pretty dead in here with only about 5 tables occupied. Dee ordered the fettuccini alfredo with chicken, broccoli and mushrooms. I got the chicken fried steak. Dee also ordered a side salad and I ordered a cup of soup to go with my meal. As time was ticking by there was no sight of our soup or salad and after 45 minutes our entrees came. I'm not sure what happened but it certainly wasn't busy enough for the server to get side tracked enough to forget our soup and salad and I'm puzzled at why it took 45 minutes for the entrees to come out when the restaurant was dead.

After dinner we continued to play penny games on the remainder of the ticket we had left prior to dinner. We had some good swings and some bad but overall we got 3 hours of action out of $50. We were going to play more video poker but it was going on 2am and we decided to just give up tonight and start a new day tomorrow.

Total win/loss for the day -$700
Total comps for the day $389
