Day 15
Sunday December 25, 2010

Merry Christmas to all and Happy 40th Birthday to ME!
Today is my 40th birthday. Big deal! We slept in today until almost 10am. Not sure why since we went to bed kind of early. To start the day Dee made a bunch of Christmas phone calls to people back home while I typed up this report. That's where we are right now.

Once we finally got ready after a morning of lounging around we went to the Market Street Cafe over at the California. They had a holiday list of specials that was different from the normal list with exception of the prime rib which is what I got. Dee had breakfast. The food came out so fast I didn't even get a chance to finish my salad. Dee's breakfast was fine and my prime rib was cooked perfectly. My special came with dessert and I took the apple pie.

After brunch it was time to play. We hit our usual triple plays. I was doing well and scored aces, a painful straight flush to the king, and numerous bonus quads. Dee got her butt kicked again and didn't hit any quads at all and dropped $200 in her session. Despite all of the nice hands I had I only ended up my session even.

We didn't play for very long but both of us were suddenly very tired. In my case it was from eating way too much. We went upstairs and took a short 20 minute power nap and then got ready to head out to South Point. We were going here to meet with friends Anne, Steve, Terry and Jason to go to the movies to see Little Fokkers. Today is also Steve's birthday but he's actually 1 year older than I am. The movie was ok and when it was over we were ready to eat. The lines for all of the restaurants at South Point were long so we decided to go to one of the Village Pubs. I had heard of these places before but never ventured out to one. This one was at Wigwam and Eastern. They had quite a variety of items on the menu and I chose the signature chicken pot pie which was very good. Dee had a chicken and portebello wrap. She said it was good but the mushroom wasn't cooked enough. For dessert we had the brownie sundae and for entertainment Jason did magic tricks for us. The little shit is pretty good. Maybe he'll be the next Criss Angel.

After dinner we said our goodbyes to everyone and came back down to Main Street Station for some more video poker action. Things were better for me this time and I scored some quads right off the start. Dee was still quadless and steadily watching her credits disappear. I had doubled up at this point though so we were still doing ok. She had lost her $100 and needed a break so popped a $20 bill into the Wheel of Fortune machines. She got a few spins but nothing major. By now I was in a downward spiral and lost my profits and then some of my buy in. I switched to double-double bonus on the 10-plays and scored a set of 10's and then a set of aces and switched back to bonus. Things got good from here and Dee returned as well. We both started hitting quads and we both hit a straight flush, mine to the king again. I also got dealt queens and things were good. Dee ended up losing for the session and I lost some of the profits I made but in total we cashed out even. We ended the day with 22 scratch cards and all were for $2 except for one of them which was $5. When I cashed them in the girl at the cage said wow, you got a $5 card. I said yes, it must be a mistake. I also told her I remembered when most of the cards were $3 and $5 and she looked up in surprise and said "REALLY?" ah, yes, the good old days when LRFB was 5k coin in and scratch cards were rarely worth less than $3!

To wrap up the night we tried a little bit of action on the Amazing Race slots. They are kind of lame but the bonus rounds are fun. Dee won a few bucks here and I lost. She took her ticket over to Megabucks to take a shot at the millions and I went over to the bar to visit with bartender Ronnie for a bit before coming upstairs and wrapping things up for the night.

Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total comps for the day $117
